By the grace of Hashem,

at the conclusion of the holy Shabbos*,

To the attention of the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,

devotes himself to communal needs, has generous

conduct, is descended from an illustrious family,

the Rav Shneur Zalman (note 1: S. Z. Shazar. See, regarding him, letter no. 8254) Shlita*,

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your long letter and I noted therein, with pleasure, the profound interest that you show for Kfar Chabad* and for all that concerns it, including its inhabitants and its representatives. May Hashem cause that it always be so, and even in an increased manner.

To make reference to current events and perhaps even in connection with what has just been said, I take the liberty of enclosing what we have just published, but which is not yet bound, a collection of Chassidic* discourses (note 2: "Chassidic Discourses of the Month of Elul 5723") that I delivered during the holy Shabbos* of the 18th of Elul* and this Shabbos*. Moreover, one finds therein explanations of the Admur HaZaken*. Now, you yourself have had the merit and the success of being at the origin of their publication (note 3: See, on this subject, letter no. 8254).

May Hashem cause, in conformity with the saying of my father-in-law, the Rebbe* (note 4: See, on this subject, letter no. 3777), that the 18th of Elul* vivify (note 5: Eighteen is, indeed, the numerical value of Chai*, meaning "living") all that concerns this month, in a concrete manner, that it also bring you physical vitality and good health. With my consideration, my respects, and my blessing to be inscribed and sealed for a good year,

ויהי רצון שכפתגם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, אשר ח"י אלול מכניס חיות בכל עניני אלול, יהי' זה בפועל, כולל גם חיות הגוף ובריאות הנכונה.
