To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to

communal needs, of multiple accomplishments,

the Rav Nissim Bekher,

I greet you and bless you,

I have learned, with pleasure, through the intermediary of the Rav, distinguished and pleasant Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, the Rav Moshe Yitzchak Hecht, upon his return from his travels and his visit to your city (note 1: Kushta — Constantinople, Turkey), of your activities in the domain of education and the dissemination of Judaism. Moreover, your wife assists you in this matter and she devotes herself to the education of young girls.

Without a doubt, you will develop your sacred mission, in conformity with the Injunction of our Sages* (note 2: In tractate Berachos* 28a), according to which one ascends in the domain of holiness. If, at all times, each one has had the merit and the obligation to bring closer our brothers, the children of Yisrael*, to their Father Who is in heaven, to lead them on the path of the Torah*, Torah* of life, and its Mitzvos*, of which it is said: "One shall live by them," how much more is this the case in our days, in particular in a country where those who fear the Word of Hashem are, for the moment, few in number.

In conformity with your request, I will mention your names in prayer so that the wishes of your hearts be fulfilled (note 3: Presumably that of having a son), for good and for blessing. The merit of your activity in the domain of the education of the sons and daughters of Yisrael* will surely protect you, so that you may educate your daughters to Torah*, to the wedding canopy, and to good deeds, while possessing all good.

On the occasion of the new year that approaches, for us and for all of Yisrael*, for good and for blessing, I address my blessing to you, to your wife, and to all who are yours, that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, both materially and spiritually. With my respects and my blessing to give me good news,

שלום וברכה!

נעם לי להוודע על ידי הרה"ח וו"ח אי"א נו"מ עוסק בצ"צ וכו' מוה"ר משה יצחק שי' העכט בשובו ממסעיו וביקורו במחנו הט', על דבר פעולות כ' בשטח החינוך ובהפצת היהדות, ואשר גם זוג' תחי' הכבודה עוזרת לו בזה ועוסקת בחינוך הבנות.

ובודאי יוסיפו בעבודתם בקדש, כציווי רבותינו ז"ל מעלין בקדש, שאם תמיד היתה החובה והזכות על כל אחד ואחת לקרב את אחינו בני ישראל לאביהם שבשמים ולהעמידם על דרך התורה תורת חיים, ומצוותי' עליהן נאמר וחי בהם, על אחת כמה וכמה בימינו אלה, ובפרט במדינה שהחרדים לדבר ה' לא רבים הם, לע"ע.

כבקשתו אזכירם בתפילה... למלוי משאלות לבם לטובה ולברכה. וזכות התעסקותם בחינוך בני ובנות ישראל בודאי יעמוד להם לגדל את בנותיהם שתחיינה לתורה ולחופה ולמעשים טובים ברוב טוב.

ולקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, ברכתי שלוחה לכ' ולזוג' ולב"ב שיחיו, ברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.
