To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,

the Rav Eliyahu Cohen,

member of the Chief Rabbinate of Kushta (note 1: Constantinople, Turkey),

I greet you and bless you,

I have received, with pleasure, your greetings, through the intermediary of the Rav, distinguished and pleasant Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, the Rav Moshe Yitzchak Hecht, upon his return from his visit to your city. He also transmitted to me your request for a blessing, which will be read, at a propitious moment, near the resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, chief of Yisrael*. May Hashem cause that the wish of your heart be fulfilled (note 2: Perhaps that of having children) and that you give me good news thereof.

I have already underlined the great necessity, incumbent upon each one, in particular upon one to whom divine Providence* has granted the means to exercise an influence and the responsibility to do so, to disseminate our Torah*, Torah* of life, and its Mitzvos*, of which it is said: "One shall live by them," wherever this influence manifests. Without a doubt, you yourself make use of all these possibilities, in an ever-increasing manner, in conformity with the Injunction of our Sages* (note 3: In tractate Berachos* 28a), according to which one ascends in the domain of holiness.

In fact, the days that come are particularly propitious for bringing closer our brothers, the children of Yisrael*, to their Father Who is in heaven. First of all, the Injunction: "You shall love your fellow as yourself" is "a great principle of the Torah*." Moreover, it is the channel and the receptacle allowing one to obtain the blessings of Hashem in all spiritual and material needs.

On the occasion of the new year that approaches, for us and for all of Yisrael*, for good and for blessing, I address my blessing to you and to your wife, that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, both materially and spiritually. With my respects and my blessing,

נעם לי לקבל פ"ש מכת"ר על ידי הרה"ח וו"ח אי"א נו"מ עוסק בצ"צ וכו' מוה"ר משה יצחק שי' העכט בבואו מביקורו במחנם הט'. גם מסר לידי הפ"נ עבורו וזוג' הרבנית שתחי', שייקרא על ציון כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר בעת רצון. ויהי רצון שימלאו משאלות לבו לטובה ולברכה, ויבשר בשורות טובות.

כבר מלתי אמורה על דבר גודל ההכרח על כל אחד ואחד, ובפרט זה אשר ההשגחה העליונה העמידתהו במעמד ומצב של השפעה ואחריות, להפיץ תורתנו תורת חיים ומצוותי' עליהן נאמר וחי בהם ככל אשר ידו מגעת. ובודאי גם כת"ר מנצל כל האפשריות בזה באופן של מוסיף והולך כציווי רבותינו ז"ל מעלין בקדש.

והרי ימים אלו והימים הבאים לקראתינו מסוגלים ביחוד לקרב את אחינו בני ישראל לאביהם שבשמים, ונוסף על העיקר שמצות ואהבת לרעך כמוך הוא כלל גדול בתורה, הרי זה גם כן צנור וכלי לקבלת ברכות השי"ת בכל המצטרך מנפש ועד בשר.

ולקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, ברכתי שלוחה לכת"ר ולביתו, ברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.
