To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and assumes

a sacred mission (note 1: Teaching based on sacred values), the Rav Yaakov (note 2: Rav Y. Lerer, of Meitav),

I greet you and bless you,

I respond to your letter of the 15th of Elul*, in which you ask me about the rite of prayer. According to what we heard from my father-in-law, the Rebbe* (note 3: See also the Likkutei Sichos*, volume 25, at page 376), chief of Yisrael*, there is no reason to exert pressure on the students of the schools of the network (note 4: The network of schools Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak* in the Holy Land) to make them change the prayer ritual to which they are accustomed. Conversely, if some students wish this change, it is clear that they may do so.

I add that it is possible to change from the Ashkenazic* rite to the Sephardic* rite and from the Sephardic* to the rite of the Ari Zal*, but not the reverse (note 5: See, on this subject, letter no. 8278). This is the reason why those who wish to make this change must take the decision that in the future, they will pray only in this manner. I hope that you will begin the school year with inspiration and vitality, as is demanded and enjoined of us by our Torah*, Torah* of life, in particular according to what is explained by Chassidus*. Moreover, this year is the one hundred and fiftieth since the passing Hilula* of the Admur HaZaken*. With my blessing for success in your sacred mission and that you be inscribed and sealed for a good year,

וע"פ מה ששמענו מכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר נשיא ישראל, אין ללחוץ על תלמידי בית ספר הרשת וכיו"ב בנוגע לשינוי נוסח התפלה בו רגילים.

ואידך גיסא, אלו התלמידים הרוצים לשנות, מובן שיכולים לעשות כן,

ועוד להוסיף, כיון שאפשר לשנות מנוסח אשכנז לספרד ומספרד לנוסח אר"י אבל לא להיפך, לכן הרוצים לשנות עליהם להחליט שכן יתפללו מכאן ולהבא.

התקוה שהתחילו שנת הלימודים מתוך התעוררות וחיות כדרוש ומצווה עלינו בתורתנו תורת חיים, ובפרט ע"פ המבואר בתורת החסידות,

והרי השנה שנת המאה וחמשים להסתלקות הילולא של כ"ק אדמו"ר הזקן.
