To Mr. Cohen, officer of the region of Rechovos*,

I greet you and bless you,

I have learned (note 1: See the Likkutei Sichos*, volume 19, at page 529), with particular satisfaction, that you have brought your help to the Yeshivah* Achei Temimim* Lubavitch* of Rishon LeTzion* (note 2: See the preceding letter). Without a doubt, you will continue, in the future, to bring your support to this educational institution of great importance, to the fullest extent possible. Indeed, "one knows ascent in the domain of holiness" (note 3: According to tractate Berachos* 28a) and the merit of that which is public comes to your aid.

We are in Elul*, the month of mercy, and we have already passed the 18th of Elul*, the date of the birth of the Admur HaZaken*, author of the Tanya* and of the Shulchan Aruch*, this year being the one hundred and fiftieth since his passing. It is therefore current to recall here the manner in which he himself defines this month of Elul*, by means of the parable of a King Who, when He is in His palace, is difficult to access. Then, during the month of Elul*, He goes out to the field and, from then on, whoever desires it can go to meet Him. He welcomes each one with benevolence and shows a smiling face to all. May Hashem cause that each one of us make full use of this opportunity.

On the occasion of the new year that approaches, for us and for all of Yisrael*, for good and for blessing, I wish to you and to all who are yours to be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, both materially and spiritually. With my respects and my blessing,

שלום וברכה!

ביקורת רוח מיוחדת נודעתי מעזרתו לישיבת "אחי תמימים" ליובאוויטש בראשון לציון, ובודאי אשר גם להבא ימשיך עזרתו למוסד חנוך חשוב זה ככל האפשר, ומעלין בקדש, וזכות הרבים מסייעתו.

כיון שנמצאים אנו בחודש אלול, חודש הרחמים, ובפרט שבאים אנו מח"י אלול, יום הולדת את רבינו הזקן בעל התניא והשו"ע, אשר השנה היא שנת המאה וחמשים להסתלקותו, ראוי להביא כאן כדבר בעתו מה שמבאר בענין חודש אלול, שהוא בדוגמת מלך, שכל זמן שהוא בהיכלו קשה להיכנס אליו, ובחודש אלול המלך יוצא בשדה ואז רשאין כל מי שרוצה לצאת להקביל פניו והוא מקבל את כולם בסבר פנים יפות וכו'.

ויהי רצון שכל אחד מאתנו ינצל הזדמנות זו במילואה.

ולקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, הנני לאחל לכ' ולכל אשר לו ברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.
