To Mr. Noam Launer,

I greet you and bless you,

I have learned with pleasure (note 1: The Rebbe* uses here the word Noam, pleasure, which is also the first name of the addressee of this letter) of the help that you have brought in the past and that you still bring in the present, to the Yeshivah* Achei Temimim* of your city (note 2: Rishon LeTzion*). I have good hope that you will continue in this direction, in an increased manner, since our Sages* say (note 3: In tractate Berachos* 28a) that one ascends in the domain of holiness. Moreover, this institution has progressed. It has developed and it is useful, for the honor of the city and its region. Now, you are the mayor of this city and you can surely do something in this matter.

We are in Elul*, the month of mercy, and we have already passed the 18th of Elul*, the date of the birth of the Admur HaZaken*, author of the Tanya* and of the Shulchan Aruch*, this year being the one hundred and fiftieth since his passing. It is therefore current to recall the manner in which he himself defines this month, by means of the parable of a King Who, before entering the city, is welcomed in the field by the citizens. From then on, whoever desires it can go to meet Him. He welcomes each one with benevolence and shows a smiling face to all, as the Likkutei Torah* explains, Parshas Reeh*, at page 32a. A particular strength is then granted to do all that is fitting and to know success.

שלום וברכה!

בנועם נודעתי על דבר עזרתו, בעבר וגם בהוה, לישיבת "אחי תמימים" בעירו.

ותקותי חזקה שבודאי ימשיך בזה, ובהוספה, כדרישת חכמינו ז"ל, מעלין בקדש. ובפרט שהמוסד התקדם בהתפתחותו ומביא תועלת וכבוד לעיר ולמחוז, והרי בתור ראש העיר בודאי שיש בידו לעשות, וזכות הרבים מסייעתו.

בעמדנו בחודש אלול, חודש הרחמים, ובפרט שבאים אנו מח"י אלול, יום הולדת את כ"ק רבינו הזקן בעל התניא והשו"ע, אשר השנה היא שנת המאה וחמשים להסתלקותו, דבר בעתו הוא להזכיר מה שמבאר בענין חודש זה ע"פ משל למלך שקודם בואו לעיר יוצאין אנשי העיר לקראתו ומקבלין פניו בשדה ואז רשאין כל מי שרוצה לצאת להקביל פניו והוא מקבל את כולם בסבר פנים יפות ומראה פנים שוחקות לכולם כו' (לקוטי תורה, ראה, לב, א). והרי בזה נתינת כח מיוחדת לעשות כל דבר טוב ולהצליח.

בכבוד ובברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.
