Igrot Kodesh · Letter 8658 — Grief & Loss

To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself

to communal needs, the Rav Yehoshua Mordechai (note 1: Rav Y. M. Lipkin, of Yerushalayim*)

and his wife, Mrs. Gitta Raizel,

I greet you and bless you,

I have read your letter, which complemented that of your son. In the meantime, he himself has surely received my response. On this occasion, I express my hope that each one will do all that is in his power to disseminate Judaism in general and the wellsprings (note 2: Of Chassidus*) in particular. Different texts establish the necessity of this, especially for those who reside in the holy city of Yerushalayim*, may it be restored and rebuilt, and who, moreover, have the merit and the success of being attached to our masters and chiefs, the chiefs of Chabad*.

The assurance has been given to us that one comes to the aid of those who desire to purify themselves (note 3: According to tractate Yoma* 38b). And, the Admur HaZaken*, this year being the one hundred and fiftieth since his passing, specifies (note 4: In the Likkutei Torah*, commentaries on Shemini Atzeres*, at page 88b) that this includes also the fact of purifying others. With my blessing to give me good news of all that has been said,

והובטחנו הבא לטהר, וידוע דיוק רבנו הזקן - אשר השנה שנת המאה וחמשים שנה להסתלקות הילולא שלו - לטהר גם אחרים, מסייעין אותו.
