26 Tammuz* 5723,

You (note 1: This letter was written by the Rebbe* directly on a letter dated 26 Tammuz* 5723) will embellish (note 2: The addressee of this letter wrote: "Some counselors were educated in a spirit of systematic opposition to Chassidus*. They affirm to me that they are opposed to its study. What measures should I take?") all this with a story from the life of the Chassidim* or of their leaders, in order to prove, based on the situation that prevailed at the time, that, from the outset, the opposition was explained solely (note 3: The Rebbe* underlines the word: "solely") by reasons that were clearly stated, by the fears that one could then have. On the other hand, since then, all agree to recognize that these reasons have no basis. Moreover, Chassidus* adds, but it does not subtract, which Hashem forbid, as concrete practice establishes. In this case, "in two hundred coins, there are one hundred coins" (note 4: In Chassidus*, there is the entirety of Jewish practice which cannot be called into question, including in such a situation).

לתבל בסיפור מחיי החסידים או דהנשיאים, להוכיח (מהקו"ק דאז שההתנגדות מראש הייתה רק מטעמים שאמרום בפי', חששות וכו', ומאז הכל מודים שאין מקום להם. ועוד שתורת החסידות מוסיפה ולא גורעת ח"ו (וכדמוכח במוחש) ובמילא בכלל מאתים מנה.
