By the grace of Hashem,

Chanukah* 5723,

Brooklyn, New York,

To the attention of Mr. Yaakov Gliss,

I greet you and bless you,

Through the intermediary of the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, assumes a sacred mission (note 1: Education based on sacred values), is filled with eagerness, has good conduct, the Rav Aharon Mordechai Silbershtrom, I have duly received your book: "Neighborhoods of Yerushalayim*." I thank you for this attention.

We are in the days of Chanukah*, whose Mitzvah* consists of kindling candles "at the door of one's house, toward the outside," in ever-increasing number. May Hashem therefore cause each one of us, within all of Israel, to do all that is in one's power to disseminate the true light, "the candle (which) is a Mitzvah* and the Torah* (which) is a light," knowing elevation in the domain of holiness (note 2: According to tractate Berachos* 28a). Such is, precisely, the objective of Chassidus*, based on the three loves, love of Hashem, love of the Torah* and love of one's fellow. According to the formula of the well-known letter of the Baal Shem Tov*, "your wellsprings will spread to the outside," which has, precisely, two implications (note 3: See, on this subject, letter no. 8561). On the one hand, the dissemination must take place in a location regarding which the Torah* bears witness that it is: "the outside." On the other hand, it is precisely the wellsprings (note 4: The Rebbe* underlines the words: "the wellsprings" and "dissemination") that must be disseminated, the wellspring of living waters, in all their purity. Furthermore, an allusion does not suffice, nor even a few drops. It must be a dissemination, with a great profusion. Now, "the Holy One, blessed be He, does not act with treachery toward His creatures" (note 5: According to tractate Avodah Zarah* 3a) and "He demands in accordance with the force at each one's disposal" (note 6: According to the Midrash* Bamidbar Rabbah*, chapter 21, at paragraph 22), which means that it is possible to satisfy a request of the Torah*. Moreover, an Injunction of the Creator is also a force granted to carry it out. With my respects and my blessing,
