By the grace of Hashem,

15 Menachem* Av* 5722,

To our brethren, the children of Israel originating from Algeria (note 1: And residing in France),

may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

I received, with pleasure, your letter of 12 Menachem* Av*, with the list of its signatories. May you all be blessed, in all your needs, both material and spiritual. I took note with pleasure, through your letter, of your good resolution, that of putting the Mitzvos* into practice, on a daily basis. Besides the intrinsic importance of these Mitzvos*, since they are the Will of Hashem, blessed be He, Creator of the world, Who directs it, they also constitute the channels and the receptacles conveying His blessings for each man and each woman, with the members of their family.

We are on a propitious day, the fifteenth of Av*. Now, "there were no festivals for Israel like the fifteenth of Av*," as the Mishnah* says (note 2: In tractate Taanis* 26b). This day follows the period "between the afflictions" (note 3: Between 17 Tammuz* and 9 Av*), which commemorates the destruction of the Temple and the exile. Thus, we say in the prayer that: "it is because of our transgressions that we were expelled from our land." May Hashem therefore cause us to obtain soon the true and complete redemption. And, your good decision to strengthen: "the candle (which) is a Mitzvah* and the Torah* (which) is a light" will realize your personal redemption, the liberation of your soul and the liberation of your body. Then, it will hasten the collective redemption of our people, the people of the children of Israel, through our righteous Moshiach*, very soon and in our days (note 4: See the end of letter no. 8493). May Hashem positively fulfill the wish of your heart and confer success upon the work of your hands. With my respects and my blessing of success, materially and spiritually,

בנועם קבלתי מכתבם מיום י"ב מנ"א, עם רשימת החותמים עליו, כולם יעמדו על הברכה, להתברך בכל המצטרך, בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.

שמחתי לקרוא במכתבם מהחלטתם הטובה בקיום המצוות המעשיות בחיי היום יום, שנוסף על ההכרח שבדבר מצד עצמו להיותם צווי השם יתברך ויתעלה, בורא עולם ומנהיגו, הרי הם הצנורות וכלים לקבלת ברכותיו לכל אחד ואחת מכם וב"ב שיחיו.

ובעמדנו ביום סגולה, חמשה עשר באב, שלא היו ימים טובים בישראל כמותו, כדבר משנה, הבא תיכף אחר תקופת בין המצרים לזכר החורבן והגלות, וכמו שאומרים אנו בתפילה ומפני חטאינו גלינו מארצנו, יהי רצון שבקרוב ממש נזכה לגאולה השלימה והאמתית. והרי החלטתם הטובה להרבות בנר מצוה ותורה אור מביאה גאולה הפרטית, גאולת הנפש וגאולת הגוף, ומקרבת גאולה הכללית של עמנו עם בני ישראל, על ידי משיח צדקנו במהרה בימינו.

השם יתברך ימלא משאלות לבכם לטובה ויצליח מעשה ידיכם.
