To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to
communal needs, the Rav Shlomo Zalman (note 1: Rav Sh. Z. Shargai. See, regarding him, letter no. 8429),
I greet you and bless you,
I thank you for your letter of the 6th and 8th of Menachem* Av*, with what was enclosed. Without doubt, you will not fail to let me know what will happen subsequently. May Hashem cause the evolution to be positive.
We are on a propitious day, of which it is said (note 2: In tractate Taanis* 26b): "There were no festivals for Israel like the fifteenth day of Av*." May Hashem cause this promise to be finally fulfilled, in a concrete manner. Then, the verses will be realized according to their literal meaning, according to the interpretations that can be given of them and the commentaries that our Sages develop (note 3: At the same reference): "The daughters of Yerushalayim* went out and danced in the vineyards... Go out and see, daughters of Tzion*... the day of His marriage: this is the giving of the Torah*. The day of the joy of His heart: this is the rebuilding of the Temple," which will take place very soon and in our days, through our righteous Moshiach*. Indeed, according to the terms of the Rambam*, "a king will arise from the house of David, versed in the Torah* and devoting himself to the Mitzvos*, like David, his ancestor, according to the Written Law and according to the Oral Law. It is then certain that he is the Moshiach*." With my respects and my blessing of success, in good health,

ת"ח בעד מכתבו מיום ו' וח' מנ"א עם המצורף אליהם. ובודאי לא ימנע מלהודיע המשך הענינים ויהי רצון שיתפתחו בכיוון הרצוי.
... ובעמדנו ביום סגולה עליו נאמר לא היו ימים טובים לישראל כחמשה עשר באב, יהי רצון שסוף סוף יקויים יעוד זה בפועל, שאז יקוימו הכתובים כפשוטם וכמשמעם וכדרשת רבותינו ז"ל, בנות ירושלים יוצאות וחולות בכרמים כו' צאינה וראינה בנות ציון גו' ביום חתונתו זה מתן תורה וביום שמחת לבו זה בנין בית המקדש שיבנה במהרה בימינו, על ידי משיח צדקנו, ובלשון הרמב"ם יעמוד מלך מבית דוד הוגה בתורה ועוסק במצות כדוד אביו, כפי תורה שבכתב ושבעל פה כו' הרי זה משיח בודאי כו'.
