To the distinguished and pleasant Chassid* who fears Hashem,

who devotes himself to communal needs, has

generous conduct, is descended from an illustrious

family, the Rav Sh. Z. (note 1: Shneur Zalman Shazar, who subsequently became the president of Israel. See, regarding him, letter no. 8254),

I greet you and bless you,

I am surprised not to have had news from you for a significant period. Furthermore, I hope that you met Chassidim*, in the places you visited (note 2: In Russia. See, on this subject, letter no. 8446). Nevertheless, I obtained news of you indirectly, through those who attended the Chassidic* gathering, at the same time as you, in Kfar Chabad*, as well as through Rav Shlomo Aharon Kazarnovski. But, of course, this does not yet quench my thirst.

I enclose a copy of one of my letters which will perhaps interest you, as well as an extract from a talk that was delivered at the Chassidic* gathering of the 12th and 13th of Tammuz*. With my respects and my blessing,

לפלא שלא שמעתי מכ' זה זמן כביר, ובפרט שתקותי שראה מי מאנ"ש במקומות שביקר. ברם קבלתי ממנו פ"ש בעקיפין ע"י המתועדים אתו בכפר חב"ד וגם על ידי הרב ש. א. קזרנובסקי שי', אבל כמובן שאין זה מרווה הצמאון.
