To the Tzaddik*, descendant of a great lineage, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, Rabbi ... Shlita, the Rebbe of ... [1],

I greet and bless you,

The nineteenth day of Kislev is approaching — Tuesday of Parshat "I am seeking my brothers" [2] — according to the Zohar, Vol. 1, p. 184b, the third day of the week, when the word "good" was said twice at the creation. This date is the Hilula* of the Maggid of Mezritch, the great disciple and successor of the Baal Shem Tov. We drink their water and are guided by their light.

It is also the day of the liberation of the Alter Rebbe and the victory of Chassidus*, the teaching of the Baal Shem Tov. It is said, indeed, that "the children of Israel [3] go out with a high hand" [4].

The Baal Shem Tov posed the following question to Mashiach: "When will you come?" Our righteous Mashiach answered him: "When your teaching spreads, when it is revealed in the world, and your wellsprings spread to the outside." This is how we prepare the coming of Mashiach.

Taking into account the particular responsibility incumbent upon all of Israel — especially the leaders, and in particular the heads of the chassidic communities — they must accept the great merit of spreading the wellsprings of Chassidus that our masters, the Baal Shem Tov, the Maggid of Mezritch, and their disciples, the masters of the chassidic schools, bequeathed to us.

I therefore propose that on this luminous day of 19 Kislev, or the Shabbos preceding or following it, you organize a chassidic farbrengen* for all the people upon whom you exert your influence. During these, you will emphasize, in particular, the importance of spreading these wellsprings outward — those of the Baal Shem Tov, his disciples, and their disciples — of fixing a time for Torah study, of fulfilling the mitzvos* in the best possible way, of loving one's fellow, of transforming one's conduct according to the teaching of Chassidus.

The merit of our masters, the leaders of Israel, will protect us all, so that we may succeed in fulfilling the mission entrusted to us in this world.

And may our eyes behold the coming of our righteous Mashiach, very soon in our days, Amen.

קרוב יום התשעה עשר בכסלו, יום ג' (לסדר את אחי אנכי מבקש. זח"א קפ"ד, א) שהוכפל בו כי טוב, הוא יום ההילולא רבא של אדמו"ר הרב המגיד ממעזריטש - תלמידו הגדול וממלא מקומו של אדמו"ר הבעש"ט - אשר את מימיהם אנו שותים ולאורם אנו הולכים,

הוא יום גאולת אדמו"ר הזקן ונצחון תורת החסידות - תורת הבעש"ט - אשר בני ישראל יצאו ביד רמה.

ידועה שאלת הבעש"ט למשיח: אימתי אתי מר ותשובת משיח צדקנו: בעת

שיתפרסם למודך ויתגלה בעולם ויפוצו מעינותיך חוצה. - כי זהו הקדמה והכנה לביאת המשיח.

מתוך תשומת לב לחוב הקדוש המוטל על כל ישראל וביחוד על מנהיגי ישראל בכלל ועל מנהיגי עדות החסידים בפרט, וזכות הגדולה שלהם - להפיץ מעינות החסידות, כפי אשר הנחילו אותם לנו מורנו הבעש"ט ואחריו מורנו הרב המגיד ותלמידיהם נשיאי עדות החסידים -

הנני להציע בזה, לכקמ"ע אשר ביום הבהיר הזה הוא יום י"ט כסלו הבע"ל, או גם בשבתות שלפניו ושלאחריו - לסדר מסבות והתועדות של כל אלה אשר השפעתו עליהם, אשר בהתועדות אלו יתעוררו בפרט לעבודה בהפצת המעינות - מעינות תורת הבעש"ט תלמידיו ותלמידי תלמידיו - חוצה, ובכלל לקביעות עתים לתורה, שמירת המצוות בהידור, ואהבת רעים וזיכוך המדות ע"פ תורת החסידות.

וזכות נשיאינו, נשיאי ישראל, יגן עלינו כולנו, להצליח במילוי שליחותינו בעלמא דין,

ועינינו תחזינה בביאת משיח צדקנו במהרה בימינו, בעגלא דידן, אמן.
