Igrot Kodesh · Letter 795 — Faith & Bitachon

By the grace of Hashem,
9 Mar-Cheshvan 5711,

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your express letter. On several occasions already, I have asked you not to be sad and discouraged. I have warned you about this.

I explained to you that my father-in-law the Rebbe has blessed you many times. Now, the Holy One blessed be He ratifies the decree of the Tzaddik*, as the Talmud establishes.

May Hashem preserve you from feeling the slightest doubt in this matter or from weakening your bitachon* [1]. Numerous texts of our Sages condemn such an attitude, and this, moreover, deteriorates the channels conveying the blessing.

Here is what the Zohar says, Parshat Tetzaveh, page 184b:

"Consider that this world is always ready to receive, and it is comparable to a precious stone. But the upper world grants to it only according to what it is. When one displays here below a luminous face, one receives the heavenly light. By contrast, when one is sad, one receives through the Attribute of severity. It is concerning this that it is said (Tehillim 100): Serve Hashem with joy. For the joy of man draws down that of Hashem."

It is high time that you begin to listen in this domain!

במענה על מכתבו המהיר. זה כמה פעמים בקשתיו וגם הזהרתיו שלא יהי' בעצבות ולא מרה שחור'דיג

והטעמתי לו אשר כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ ברך אותו פעמים רבות וצדיק גוזר והקב"ה מקיים, וכפסק הש"ס.

וחס וחלילה להטיל ספק כל שהוא בזה, או להחליש כח בטחונו שמלבד כל מאמרי רז"ל המבוארים גנות דבר זה הנה זה ג"כ מקלקל ח"ו את הצנורות. וזהו לשון הזהר פ' תצוה דקפ"ד, ע"ב:

תא חזי עלמא תתאה קיימא לקבלא תדיר והוא אקרי אבן טבא ועלמא עלאה לא יהיב ליה אלא כגוונא דאיהו קיימא. אי איהו קיימא בנהירו דאנפין מתתא, כדין הכי נהרין ליה מעילא, ואי איהו קיימא בעציבו יהבין ליה דינא בקבליה, כגוונא דא (תהלים ק) עבדו את השם בשמחה, וחדוה דב"נ משיך לגביה חדוה אחרא עלאה.

און עס איז שוין צייט ער זאל אנהייבן פאלגן אין דעם

בברכת כ"ט ורפואה קרובה בפרט,
