Igrot Kodesh · Letter 7655 — Tzedakah
Volume 20 · Letter 212 · To: final
By the grace of Hashem,
1st Sivan* 5721,
Brooklyn,
I greet you and bless you,
After an interruption, I duly received your letter of 16 Iyar* and you will understand that I am surprised by what you tell me about your weakness, particularly during the period of the Omer*, in the course of which one must "amass" (note 1: Strengths) each day. As is known, this is the reason one does not say (note 2: When counting the Omer*): "Today is the second day," but: "Today is two days." Indeed, the integrity of the first day must then be preserved. Now, it is necessary that this Mitzvah*, like all others, reveal its content for the entire year. This is self-evident. But, "the Holy One, blessed be He, does not act treacherously toward His creatures." It is therefore certain that a man has the strength and the power to accomplish all of this. Furthermore, I am surprised and pained that you say nothing to me about what you have done to find a good match, although such is your habit (note 3: Of saying nothing about this). This is, after all, an Injunction clearly stated by our Torah*, Torah* of life. Moreover, another point adds to all of this — it is a Mitzvah* whose practice cannot be entrusted to someone else!
At this beginning of the third month (note 4: That of Sivan*), when the giving of the Torah* begins, as the Torah* Or explains in the Chassidic* discourse entitled: "The third month" and in the addenda, may Hashem grant increased assistance in all of this and in all the other domains for which the help of Hashem is necessary, based on what you write in your letter. And, you will also take advantage of this to become engaged immediately. In the end, all of this will come to fruition and you will reach a conclusion, at a good and fruitful moment. With my blessing to give good tidings and, in the words of the master, my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, to receive the Torah* with joy and in a profound manner,
