Igrot Kodesh · Letter 7654 — Faith & Bitachon

I received (note 1: This letter, addressed to Rav Yitzchak Meir Lewin, was evidently written in connection with the preceding one and shortly after it. See, regarding him, letter no. 7598), in their time, your letters of 3 Iyar*, as well as the preceding ones. I thank you for them. I am addressing you, this time, about a point regarding which I wrote, some time ago, to Doctor Yitzchak Lewin. I emphasized to him, indeed, the importance of writing the history of the recent period of the Shoah* and of the one that preceded it. For, the reality must be described as it is, by persons fearing the Word of Hashem. I enclose a copy of my correspondence on this subject.

He replied to me that he was interested in this project, but that a difficulty exists in this matter — the absence of competent writers in the historical domain. He himself is too busy to devote himself to this undertaking. He therefore asks me whom he can associate with this project (note 2: See, on this subject, the preceding letter). You yourself surely have proposals to make in this matter. I therefore draw your attention to all of this and I would be pleased to know your opinion.

בעתו קבלתי מכתביו מיום ג' באייר והקודמיו, ות"ח. ועל של עתה באתי בענין שכתבתי לד"ר יצחק שי' לוין לפני איזה זמן על דבר הנחיצות לכתוב דברי ימי השואה האחרונה והתקופה שלפני', כתובים לאמתתם של דברים על ידי חרדים וי"ש, ומוסג"פ העתק מכתבי בהנוגע לזה. קבלתי ממנו מענה כי מתענין בזה אלא שיש קושי שאין סופרים מומחים בשדה היסטורי' ולו בעצמו קשה להפנות לדבר זה מרוב הטרדות, והוא שואל את מי אפשר לשתף לעבודה זאת.

וכיון שגם לכת"ר בטח תהיינה הצעות בענין זה, הריני מביא הענין לתשומת לבו ואשמח לשמוע חוו"ד.
