To all the participants in the annual lottery (note 1: See, on this subject, letter no. 6218) for the trip of the coming month of Tishrei*, which takes place at Kfar Chabad*, founded and directed by my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, where Hashem has granted a blessing of life, may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

I duly received the list of participants in this lottery, as well as the news that it has taken place and the name of the one it has designated. As has already been said, may Hashem grant that the latter make this trip in the name of all the participants and that he confer merit upon them in every respect, quantitatively and qualitatively. Indeed, one knows the importance of a lottery, when it is conducted in the fitting manner, as the Tanya* also explains, at the end of chapter 7 of Iggeres HaKodesh*. And, the verse in Mishlei* 16:33 indeed says: "The lot shall be cast and the entire judgment shall have been rendered by Hashem" (note 2: Such a designation must be considered as if it were made directly by Hashem). In fact, the early Chassidim* report, in the name of the Tzaddik*, the great Rav, Rabbi Hillel of Paritch* (note 3: See also letter no. 6415), that all the accomplishments of the latter, each time he put a Mitzvah* into practice in the best manner, had as their sole objective to better understand one of the concepts of Chassidus*.

May Hashem grant that in this matter, there be added to this trip, for all the participants, among all the students of the Yeshivah* and the Chassidim*, an essential point — namely, the possibility of understanding a concept of Chassidus* to the point of producing a synthesis of it. Another point, which is fundamental in our era — one will by no means content oneself with a single concept, for "one who possesses a hundred coins desires two hundred." But, of course, there is no reason to wait for the trip to observe all these effects. These must come to light from the lottery itself and even from the decision (note 4: To take part in it). This is self-evident. With my blessing to give good tidings of all this and, in the words of our master and leader, my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, to receive the Torah* with joy and in a profound manner,

ויהי רצון, כאמור מכבר, שהזוכה יוציא בנסיעתו את כל המשתתפים ויזכה אותם בכל המובנים הן בכמות והן באיכות.

ובפרט עפ"י גודל הענין דגורל כשנעשה כדבעי, כמבואר גם בתניא באגה"ק סוף סימן ז', ומקרא מלא דבר הכתוב בחיק יוטל את הגורל ומה' כל משפטו (משלי טז, לג).

וע"פ סיפור חסידים הראשונים בשם הרה"ח הרה"צ והרה"ג כו' הר"ה מפאריטש שכל הענינים וההידורים שעושה הי' בשביל עס זאל זיך בא אים בעסער אפלייגען א ווארט חסידות,

יהי רצון שגם בהאמור - נוסף על עניני הנסיעה, יתוסף גם ענין עקרי זה, ובכל המשתתפים, בתוככי כללות התמימים ואנ"ש, עס זאל זיך אפלייגן א ווארט חסידות באופן דהבנה עד כדי - בכן. ועוד (ובתקופתנו - גם זה עיקר) - לא יסתפקו כלל וכלל מיט א ווארט, כי אם מי שיש לו מנה ירצה מאתיים וכו'.

ומובן וגם פשוט שאין לחכות לתועליות בהאמור עד הנסיעה בפועל, כי ההתחלה צריכה להיות מעת ההגרלה וההחלטה. וק"ל.
