A) You ask me whether there are commentaries on the Tanya*. For the moment, there is no systematic commentary, page by page. Nevertheless, several years ago, the Tanya* was translated into Yiddish and the publication of its English translation is currently being prepared. There are, in addition, certain passages that are commented upon. They have been published by mimeograph and can be found among the Chabad* Chassidim* and their associates.

B) You ask me where to settle in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, at the conclusion of the studies you are currently pursuing. According to what you write, you will complete them in a year and a half. It is therefore too early to answer this question. Indeed, conditions evolve in our Holy Land, particularly when it is a matter of earning a livelihood in the manner you describe.

Based on what you write, I have good hope that since you became acquainted with Chabad* and met its people, you have taken an interest in the study of its teaching. If, as you say, it is difficult for you to understand the Tanya*, you will first approach its third part, Iggeres HaTeshuvah*. Then, you will learn its second part. Subsequently, you will study the Kuntres U'Maayan*. But, above all, you will discuss the concepts you study with those who already possess them. Indeed, "the Torah* is acquired by attaching oneself to friends and by discussing with students." And, it is precisely in this regard that it is said: "One who tells you he made efforts without their being crowned with success — do not believe him." במענה למכתבו מל"ו בעומר.

א)שואל אם יש פירושים על התניא.

פירושים באופן מסודר דף על דף אינם לעת עתה אלא שלפני איזה שנים נעתק התניא באידית, ועתה מכינים לדפוס העתקה באנגלית, נוסף על פירושים לקטעים הנדפסים באופן מימגרפי ונמצאים בתוככי חסידי חב"ד ואוהדיהם.

ב) שואל באיזה מקום באה"ק ת"ו יתיישב לאחרי גמרו לימודו עתה.

כיון שלפי כתבו יגמור בעוד שנה וחצי, עדיין מוקדם להחליט בשאלה האמורה, כיון שמשתנים התנאים בארצנו הקדושה ת"ו ובפרט בהנוגע לענינים של פרנסה באופן שכותב.

תקותי חזקה מתאים לכתבו שמאז הכיר בעניני חב"ד ונפגש עם אנשי' שמתענין ללמוד תורתה, ובאם ככתבו קשה עליו הבנה בספר התניא, יתחיל בחלק שלישי אשר בו (זוהי אגרת התשובה) ואחרי כן חלק השני ולאחרי זה ילמוד קונטרס ומעין, והעיקר שידבר בענינים שלומד עם אלה שכבר למדו תורה זו, שהרי התורה נקנית בדבוק חברים ובפלפול התלמידים, ועל כגון זה נאמר יגעת ולא מצאת אל תאמין.
