To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, the Rav Yehoshua (note 1: Rav Y. Yuzevitch, of Jerusalem. See, regarding him, letter no. 6613),

I greet you and bless you,

You informed me that you have had a daughter, with a good Mazal*, and here is my response. In conformity with our custom, a name is given to a daughter (note 2: See, on this subject, letters no. 805, 862, and 4810) on the occasion of the closest Torah* reading. Indeed, it is said that, from birth, "a woman is considered as having received circumcision" (note 3: Whereas a boy must wait for circumcision to receive a name). The Sefer Taamei HaMinhagim*, page 396, reports a rumor according to which one should wait eight days (note 4: To give a name), but we are not responsible for rumors. With my blessing of Mazal Tov*,
