Eve of the Shabbos* that blesses the month of Iyar*,

I greet you and bless you,

I duly received your letter from the conclusion of Shabbos*, as well as the preceding ones (note 1: The same letter was addressed to many persons). We find ourselves in the days that form the link between the month of liberation from barriers and veils, on the one hand, and the month of radiance, on the other, in conformity with the explanation of our Sages* (note 2: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "Tractate Rosh Hashanah* 11a, according to which one discovers here a relationship between Nissan* and Iyar*, which bring radiance to the world") according to which "their radiance illuminated the world" (note 3: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "It is said, indeed, that 'His radiance is upon the earth and in the heavens,' as explained, in particular, by the Torah* Or, Parshas* Noach*, page 9d") — Olam, of the same etymology as Elem, the veil, as is known. And, the latter is, furthermore, the second month (note 4: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "One will consult the Zohar*, volume 3, page 117b, and the Likkutei Torah*, Parshas* Bamidbar*, page 3a").

May Hashem therefore grant that each of us assume the mission incumbent upon him in this matter, by freeing oneself from everything that causes disturbance, by introducing concentration and effort, since only the latter enables one to obtain a result. In this way, one will ascend from good to better (note 5: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "See Iggeres HaKodesh*, at the end of chapter 26, and the Likkutei Torah*, Parshas* Devarim*, page 71b"), from the Holy to the Holy of Holies. The discussions you have when you visit the various Jewish settlements (note 2: In order to disseminate Judaism there. See, on this subject, letter no. 7587) are, for the most part, more damaging than beneficial, for they arouse, for example, the desire to be their victor (note 3: Which causes a loss of objectivity and prevents one from admitting the truth). It is therefore proper to replace them, to the fullest extent possible, with lectures, in the course of which you will make known the positions of Chabad*.
