To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, the Rav Azriel (note 1: Rav A. Chaikin, of Copenhagen. See, regarding him, letters no. 6460 and 7750),

I greet you and bless you,

After a particularly long interruption, I duly received your letter of 22 Adar*, with what was enclosed therein. I thank you for having described to me, though you are concise where it would have been necessary to elaborate, what transpired during the several months in which I received no letter from you, but I remain surprised that you did not write and, when you do so, that you summarize to this extent. Naturally, your plan to distribute a motivating letter for the holiday of Pesach* is positive. Even though you do not specify it, you will no doubt enclose a brief deed of sale of Chametz* that can be attached to the general deed. This can also be a power of attorney entrusted to you, concerning all the places where there is Chametz*, as well as Chametz* utensils (note 2: In order to sell them for the duration of the holiday).

In this end of the month of Adar*, as we approach Nissan*, the month of redemption, you will give me good tidings, of a true good, as our Sages* define it — "good for the heavens and good for the creatures," "a good that bears fruits." With my blessing to give good tidings,

לאחרי הפסק הכי ארוך נתקבל מכתבו מכ"ב אדר עם המצורף אליו ות"ח על כתבו עכ"פ בקיצור - במקום שאמרו להאריך - להנעשה במשך חדשים שלא הי' ממנו כל מכתב וידיעה אף שגם עתה פלא להעדר הכתיבה וקיצור הנמרץ אפילו גם כשכותב.

מובן שנכונה התכנית לחלק מכתב התעוררות לחג הפסח ובטח אף שאינו מזכיר עד"ז גם שטר מכירה קצר שיוכלו לצרפו לשטר מכירה כללי, ואו ששטר הנ"ל יהי' בצורת יפוי כחו לכל המקומות בם נמצא חמץ וכלים חמוצים.

ויהי רצון שבעמדנו בסיום חותם חדש אדר ומתקרבים לחדש ניסן, חדש הגאולה, הנה יבשר טוב בטוב האמיתי כהוראת חז"ל, טוב לשמים וטוב לבריות וטוב העושה פירות...
