To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, the Rav Moshe (note 1: Rav M. Heizler, of Bnei Brak*. See, regarding him, letter no. 7388),

I greet you and bless you,

After a long interruption, I duly received your letter of 10 Adar* and I read with pleasure, at its conclusion, that you are striving to bring Chassidus* to the greatest number, with generosity — Chassidus* in general and Chabad* Chassidus* in particular. In fact, such activity is timely in this period, since your letter was written in the days preceding Purim* and it arrived at its destination shortly after this holiday. Now, what concerns it and the miracles that occurred there were linked to wine. This is why one must then become intoxicated with wine, as emphasized by Rashi* commenting on tractate Megillah* 7 and the Shulchan Aruch*.

Spiritually, wine alludes to the secrets of the Torah*, as it is said: "The entry of wine causes the exit of secrets." All of this is explained at length by the Likkutei Torah* of the Alter Rebbe*, author of the Tanya* and the Shulchan Aruch*, in the commentary on Shir HaShirim*, beginning at page 26c. May Hashem grant that you adopt this conduct in an ever-increasing manner. With my blessing to give good tidings of all this and, more generally, to disseminate the wellsprings (note 2: Of Chassidus*) outward, in the joy that our Sages* ask us to increase (note 3: During the month of Adar*),

לאחרי הפסק ארוך נתקבל מכתבו מיו"ד אדר, ונעם לי לקרות בו בסיום מכתבו, אשר ישתדל להביא ברבים ובהרחבה ע"ד תורת החסידות וביחוד חסידות חב"ד, ואת"ל הרי גם זה מענין ימים אלו, שנכתב מכתבו בימים שלפני הפורים ונתקבל בימים הסמוכים לאחר הפורים, שכל הענינים והנסים היו ביין, שמזה גם הציווי לבסומי ביין (רש"י מגילה ז' ושו"ע) והרי ברוחניות הרמז לרזין דאורייתא, נכנס יין יצא סוד, ונתבאר בארוכה בלקוטי תורה לרבנו הזקן בעל התניא והשו"ע, שיר השירים כ"ו ג' ואילך, ויהי רצון שיעשה בזה באופן דמוסיף והולך.

בברכה לבשו"ט בהנ"ל ובכללות הענין דהפצת המעינות חוצה מתוך שמחה ובפרט ע"פ ציווי רז"ל דמרבין בשמחה.
