Igrot Kodesh · Letter 7599 — Faith & Bitachon
Volume 20 · Letter 154
By the grace of Hashem,
17 Adar* 5721,
Brooklyn,
I greet you and bless you,
I am responding to your letter from the conclusion of Shabbos* Parshas* Tetzaveh*, in which you speak to me about the exchange of apartments (note 1: The recipient of this letter wrote: "With the completion of the construction of the new Kfar*, I left my apartment in the old one in order to settle there. Then, when my son married, I gave him the apartment in the new Kfar*, on the condition that after the construction of the new quarters, he would settle there. I could then return to my apartment in the new Kfar*. As a result, I went back to my apartment in the old Kfar*. Currently, I think I will soon be able to return to the new Kfar*, with the help of Hashem. However, I observe that the Sefer Chassidim* states: 'One who lives in a house, then leaves it, must not return there for seven full years'"). You think of returning to your house in the new Kfar*, with the help of Hashem, and you wonder about what the Sefer Chassidim* says on this subject. In fact, its statement does not concern you, for in the interval, your son lived there and it is said that "the son is a part of his father." Furthermore, you had from the outset stipulated the condition of returning quickly. Moreover, the entire Kfar* (note 2: Kfar Chabad*) was founded and is directed by my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, leader of Israel, and constitutes his domain. In such a case, one must be content with what is prescribed, without adding to it. However, since you ask me this question, it would be good, before moving back into your apartment, that a public class be given there for at least three days and at least once per day. In this way, there will be an accomplished fact (note 3: Three times) both in the number of classes and in the days. Afterward, you will reside there in tranquility, joy, and enthusiasm.
You surely maintain the three well-known studies that deal with the Chumash*, Tehillim*, and Tanya*. It would also be good to have your Tefillin* checked, as well as the Mezuzos* that you currently possess and that will be affixed in this apartment. With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,
