Igrot Kodesh · Letter 757 — Chinuch

Volume 3 · Letter 363

By the grace of Hashem,
24 Elul 5710,

To the Rabbi, distinguished Chassid who fears Hashem,
Rabbi Chaim Shaul [1],

I greet and bless you,

I reply to your letter and to your request for a blessing, which I received this day.

As you have asked me, I will read them at the gravesite of my father-in-law, the Rebbe. The Tzaddik* who departs this world is found there more than during his lifetime. He will therefore grant his blessing to each one of those who are mentioned, for the satisfaction of all their needs, material and spiritual. And Hashem will fully fulfill his blessings.

I thank you very much for the precious gift you sent me with your letter — a manuscript of my father-in-law, the Rebbe. Various texts of Chassidus* explain that the strength of an artist is expressed in the work of his hands. That of the man who writes must therefore appear clearly in his handwriting. Moreover, this manuscript evokes Chassidus*, which is profoundly bound to a Rebbe.

It is surely unnecessary to remind you that one must set a fixed time to study the Torah and, in particular, the teaching of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, in addition to the classes you have otherwise. It would be good for such study to be in a group, so that one comes to the help of the other.

I conclude by wishing you to be inscribed and sealed for a good year, to know success in your sacred mission, to lead your students toward Torah and Mitzvot* full of fear of Hashem, and — a point that is timely — toward a sincere Teshuvah*, according to the words of our master, my father-in-law, the Rebbe, pronounced on the eve of Rosh Hashanah* 5710 and printed in the fascicle published on the occasion of that Rosh Hashanah*, which I enclose for you. May Hashem grant that you often announce to me good news in this domain.

M. Schneerson,

You will find enclosed a letter addressed to all [2] and another for the students of the Yeshivah* [3] — not only those of our Yeshivah*, but indeed of all the Yeshivos*. You will doubtless disseminate them in the appropriate manner.
