To the young man, Chassid* who fears Hashem, the Rav ...,

Greetings and blessings,

I reply to your letter, written at the conclusion of Shabbos 7 Elul. You tell me that you have studied, until now, at the Yeshivah of Tel Aviv, but, recently, you feel a lack and you ask me therefore whether you must go elsewhere.

In a general way, such a question must be put to your spiritual mentor, Rav Shlomo Chaim Kesselman [1]. You will let me know his opinion.

You say that you feel a lack, and you do not specify of what nature it is. Now, you have at your disposal the booklets of the teaching of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, of his talks, in which figure instructions and counsels for not letting the yetzer hara* [2] disturb the study of the Torah and the service of Hashem, filled with His fear.

It is well established that the consciousness of lack is a stratagem of the yetzer hara, who masks himself to appear to each one in the manner that will permit him to convince most easily.

You no doubt have a specifically fixed time to study the teaching of my father-in-law, the Rebbe. Likewise, you must read each day Psalm 71 [3], and may Hashem grant that you be a Chassid, fearing Hashem, and a scholar, who will put into practice the will of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, which implies, in particular, being "a light to illuminate" your surroundings by the clarity of the fear of Hashem. You will give me good news on this subject.

I will read the request for blessing figuring in your letter at the gravesite of my father-in-law, the Rebbe. The Tzaddik* who leaves this world is found there more than during his lifetime. He will therefore grant his blessing, and Hashem will fulfill it, materially and spiritually.

With my blessing for you to be inscribed and sealed for a good year,

שלום וברכה!

במענה על מכתבו ממוצש"ק ז' אלול ושאלתו שעד עתה למד בהישיבה בת"א ושואל אשר כיון שבזמן האחרון מרגישים כאן חוסר אולי כדאי לשנות המקום.

הנה בכללות הדברים יציע הענין לפני המשפיע שלו הרה"ת וכו' וכו' ר' שלמה חיים שי' קסלמן, ויודיעני דעתו בזה.

ומה שכותב שמרגישים חוסר, אינו מבאר כוונתו בזה במה הוא החסרון. הלא נמצא אצלם קונטרסים דתורת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ ושיחותיו ובהם נמצאו הוראות ועצות איך ניט צוצולאזן דעם קלוגינקען לבלבל מתורה ועבודה ביראת שמים,

אשר רגלים לדבר שהרגש החסרון הוא ג"כ מבלבולי היצר המתחפש בלבוש המתאים לפי רוחו של כל אחד ואחד שרוצה לפתותו.

בטח יש לו קביעת עתים ביחוד לתורת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ וכן אומר בכל יום קאפיטל ע"א מתהלים, ויהי רצון שיזכה להיות חסיד ירא שמים ולמדן ויתמלא על ידו רצון כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ אשר פרט מזה הוא "נרות להאיר" דהיינו שיאיר את הסביבה שלו באור תורה ביראת שמים. ויודיע בשורות טובות בזה.
