Igrot Kodesh · Letter 7463 — Tzedakah

By the grace of Hashem,

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of 25 Tishrei*. At a propitious moment, all those you mention will be mentioned near the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, in accordance with what you write to me. You ask me: "From where will my help come?" The same verse (note 1: Tehillim 121:1-2) gives the answer to this question and our Sages* explain it: "My help will come from Hashem, Who made heaven and earth." Thereafter (note 2: After having received the help of Hashem), it is said (note 3: Bereishis 30:43, regarding Yaakov) that: "the man became very, very powerful," as our Sages* specify regarding the verse (note 4: Bereishis 28:14): "And you shall spread forth."

I am surprised that you say nothing to me about your actions during the time of our joy (note 5: The festival of Sukkos). Indeed, these days have a general import for the entire year and they are essential regarding the month of Tishrei*, as various texts establish. This is self-evident. No doubt you will give me this detail at the next opportunity. With my blessing to give good tidings,

ולכתבו מאין יבא עזרי - כבר מלתו אמורה בכתוב וכפירוש רז"ל בזה, עזרי מעם ה' עושה שמים וארץ, והי' סוף דבר ויפרוץ האיש מאד מאד, וכדרז"ל בענין ופרצת.

לפלא שאינו מזכיר דבר מפעולותיו בזמן שמחתנו והרי הימים כללים הם לכל השנה ועיקרים בתוככי עניני חדש תשרי, וכמבואר בכ"מ וק"ל, ובטח ימלא בהזדמנות הבאה.
