I greet you and bless you,

In accordance (note 1: This letter was sent to many people) with the announcement that was once made in Lubavitch*, at the conclusion of Simchas Torah*, the arrangement that is now adopted is expressed by the verse: "And Yaakov went on his way" (note 2: Which means that one resumes one's mundane activities after having integrated the spiritual forces of the month of Tishrei). It is almost certain that this announcement also alluded to the end of this same verse: "And angels met him," as our Sages* explain in the Midrash* Tanchuma*, at the end of Parshas* Mishpatim*, and the Zohar*, Volume 3, page 298a, which you will consult.

In fact, the Midrash* Tanchuma*, in comparison to the Zohar* (note 3: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "See the Likkutei Torah, Parshas Vayikra, page 5d, and the Laws of Torah Study of the Alter Rebbe, at the beginning of the second chapter"), is considered the revealed teaching of the Torah*. Moreover, it is also linked to the Midrash* Yelamdenu*, which, as its name indicates (note 4: Which means: "Let him teach us"), teaches the Halachos*. Now, according to this Midrash* Tanchuma*, it is indeed angels that are spoken of here, whereas the Zohar*, the deep teaching of the Torah*, speaks of the Holy One, blessed be He, Himself. שלגבי הזהר* הרי זה נגלה דתורה, ובפרט ע"פ השייכות דמדרש תנחומא ומדרש ילמדנו, אשר כשמו כן הוא - לימוד הלכות,

נתפרש הענין דויפגעו בו מלאכי אלקים - במלאכים, ובזהר, פנימיות התורה - על הקב"ה, ודו"ק.
