Igrot Kodesh · Letter 7452 — Prayer

By the grace of Hashem,

13 Tishrei* 5721,

To the attention of the members and leaders of the Chabad* synagogue and house of study of Me'ah She'arim*, in the holy city of Jerusalem, may it be restored and rebuilt by our righteous Moshiach*, may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

I received with pleasure the greetings of the members of the synagogue and house of study, through the intermediary of the guests (note 1: Who came to spend the month of Tishrei with the Rebbe), to whom Hashem will grant long days and good years. May Hashem grant that always and every day, Jews announce to one another only good, a true good which will be, as our Sages* explain, "good for the heavens and good for the creatures," a "good that gives fruits," in the expression of tractate Kiddushin* 40a.

In all that concerns the domain of holiness, a situation, however good it may be, can always be improved, since one is attached to the Holy One, blessed be He, Who is infinite. I have good hope that you will strengthen yourselves not only in prayer, but also in the public study of the Torah*, both its revealed part and Chassidus*, every day. On Shabbos*, the study of Chassidus* will be increased, as can be deduced from what the writings of the Arizal* say. Our Sages* rule that the name has an impact, and it is therefore rightly that your house of study and synagogue must bear the name of Chabad*, "for glory, renown and praise," as the Likkutei Torah* of the Alter Rebbe* explains, in Parshas* Tavo*, at the end of the Chassidic* discourse entitled: "On this day, Hashem your Elokim* commands you... with all your heart and with all your soul."

May Hashem grant that you be an example and exercise an influence upon all the synagogues and houses of study, until the promise is fulfilled that all the synagogues and houses of study of Bavel* will be established in Eretz Yisrael*, with the coming of our righteous Moshiach*. משיח צדקנו ה' עליהם יחיו

שלום וברכה!

נעם לי לקבל פ"ש ממתפללי בית הכנסת ובית המדרש על ידי האורחים שליט"א,

ויהי רצון שתמיד כל הימים יתבשרו בני ישראל איש מרעהו אך טוב בטוב אמיתי כדרז"ל, טוב לשמים טוב לבריות, וטוב העושה פירות (קדושין מ, א).

וכיון אשר בכל עניני קדושה, ככל שיהי' המצב גם טוב, תמיד יש מקום להוסיף, כיון שקשורים בהקב"ה שהוא אין סופי, תקותי חזקה שיתחזקו לא רק בעניני תפלה אלא גם בעניני לימוד התורה ברבים הן בנגלה והן בחסידות בכל יום, ובש"ק בהוספה בלימוד תורת החסידות, כמובן ע"פ המבואר בזה בכתבי האריז"ל.

והרי פסקו רז"ל אשר שמא גרים, ולבית המדרש ולבית הכנסת לשאת השם חב"ד בצדק - לתהלה ולשם ולתפארת (עיין לקוטי תורה לרבנו הזקן פרשת תבוא סוף ד"ה היום הזה ה"א מצוך וגו' בכל לבבך ובכל נפשך),

ויהי רצון שישמש דוגמא חי' וישפיע בכל הנ"ל על כל בתי כנסיות ובתי מדרשות,

עדי יקויים היעוד, עתידין בתי כנסיות ובתי מדרשות שבבבל שיקבעו בארץ ישראל, בביאת משיח צדקנו.
