By the grace of Hashem,
17 Elul 5710,

To the Chassid* who fears Hashem, Mr. ...,

Greetings and blessings,

I have received your letter and your request for a blessing of success, for you, your wife, and your two sons. Without making it a vow, I will mention all your names, when I find myself at the gravesite of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, so that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, materially and spiritually.

You surely know the explanation of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, comparing a blessing to rain. Indeed, it is first necessary to plant. Then, the blessing transforms a single seed into an infinitely greater quantity of fruits.

It is the same when one does, on one's own initiative, an act linked to the Torah and the Mitzvos*, in general, and to Tzedakah* in particular. A man can act only according to the forces of which he disposes, and which are necessarily limited. Nonetheless, he receives the blessing, which Hashem grants him according to His possibilities, which are not limited. You will thus obtain health, material prosperity, and success, as will your wife and your children.

I am convinced that you will seek and find the means to act in the domains of Tzedakah, Torah and Mitzvos, for yourself and for others. This will be a good receptacle to contain the blessing of which you yourself and your family have need.

I would like to ask you to transmit to your uncle that I will mention his name, as you asked of me, at the gravesite of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, so that he have a swift recovery, that he be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year.

You will find enclosed a receipt for the donation that you made for the works of Machne Israel carried out in a confidential manner, coming to the aid of persons or institutions, according to modalities which, for various reasons, cannot be divulged. The Tzedakah that remains confidential is, in fact, one of its highest forms.

With my blessing that you be inscribed and sealed for a good year,

בבקשה לכתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות.

בטח שמע את הפתגם שהרבי כ״ק מו״ח אדמו״ר הכ״מ אמר ,שברכה

היא כגשם ,שקודם יש לזרוע בעצמו ,ואחר כך ע״י הברכה נעשה מגרעין

אחד שזרעו פי כמה וכמה יותר .כך גם כאשר עושים ,מצדו ,ענין של תורה

ומצוות בכלל ,וצדקה בפרט ,הרי למרות שאדם עושה לפי כוחותיו,

המוגבלים ,הוא מתברך שה׳ נותן לפי כוחותיו הבלתי מוגבלים ,בריאות,

פרנסה והצלחה לו ולזוגתו ולילדים שיחיו.

הנני בטוח שיחפש ,וגם ימצא ,דרכים כיצד לעשות הן עם עצמו והן עם

אחרים בצדקה ,תורה ומצוות ,וזה יהי׳ כלי מתאים לכל מה שהוא

ומשפחתו זקוקים.

עוד ברצוני לבקש ממנו למסור לדודו . . .שי׳ ,שלפי בקשתכם אזכיר

גם אותו על ציון כ״ק מו״ח אדמו״ר הכ״מ ואבקש שיתברך ברפואה בקרוב,

וכתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה.

מצו״ב קבלה על נדבתו ללשכת חשאין של מחנה ישראל ,שמקרן זו

נעזרים אנשים ומוסדות שבשל סיבות מסוימות צריכים להעזר ללא

פרסום ,והרי צדקה בסוד היא אחד האופנים הנעלים ביותר בצדקה.
