I greet you and bless you,

I have just received your letter of the 10th of the month of Elul*, the month of mercy. Due to its content, I respond to it immediately, bypassing the queue. Of course, I am alluding to the dissemination of the wellsprings (note 1: Of Chassidus*) to the outside, and I intervene quickly so that one may take advantage of the time, of the few remaining days of this propitious year, marking the bicentennial of the Hilloula* of our master, the Baal Shem Tov*. The response to what I wrote to you is, to use the expression of our Sages*: "He accused him of having taken wheat and the other admitted owing him barley" (note 2: The response was unrelated to the question posed). In writing to you, I expressed my astonishment and my pain in noting that you do not use your abilities and the possibilities at your disposal to disseminate the wellsprings. Now, you respond to me that such-and-such a person does not behave well, that such-and-such another does not come to your aid. This is by no means what was asked of you. Perhaps this reinforces my argument. If, as you say, many people do not have good conduct, the work incumbent upon those who do have good conduct is increased all the more. I hope and I am certain that you are among those. This conclusion is so evident that it is undoubtedly unnecessary to say more.

Likewise, it is surely superfluous to point out the platform from which you will be able to accomplish all this. Indeed, your articles and your writings have been published by various organs and also independently. Certainly, we are arriving at the end of this year, but, an essential point, the Injunction to disseminate the wellsprings remains valid during the two hundred and first year, even if it is not a particular date. Furthermore, there still remain several days, several hours, several moments before the end of this year. Now, in a single moment, one can obtain grandiose accomplishments, provided that one puts into practice the forces and the treasures contained in the Jewish soul, or, in the terms of the Alter Rebbe*, in the Likkutei Torah*, in the second Chassidic* discourse entitled: "When you go out to war against your enemy, Hashem your Elokim* will place him in your hand," chapter 3, if one brings to light not only a reflection of the deep point of the heart, but also the quintessence of that point. Indeed, the beginning of all the sections of the Tur*, the section Orach Chaim*, is: "Be like a deer, in order to accomplish the Will of your Father Who is in heaven." May Hashem grant that I have good tidings of all this. As I indicated, it is for this reason that the present letter is sent to you by express. With my respects and my blessing to give good tidings, as well as to be inscribed and sealed for a good year,

ז"ע קבלתי מכתבו מיו"ד לחדש אלול חדש הרחמים. ולתוכן המכתב - עונה הנני עליו תיכף מבלי לחכות על התור, וכמובן כוונתי להנקודה דהפצת המעינות חוצה, וממהר אני בכדי לנצל הזמן וימים האחדים דשנת הסגולה - המאתים להסתלקות הילולא של מורנו הבעש"ט ז"ל, ותשובתו על מה שכתבתי הוא, בסגנון חז"ל, טענו חטין והודה לו בשעורין.

מה שכתבתי ותמיהני וגם מצער, שאינו מנצל כשרונותיו והיכולת שבידו להפצת המעינות, ומה שעונה לי - שפב"פ אינו בסדר ופב"פ אינו מסייעו וכו' - שאין זה ממין הטענה. ואת"ל - אדרבה זה עוד מחזק הטענה מצדי, כי אם, כדבריו, כו"כ אינם בסדר, ה"ז מגדיל מכסת העבודה אשר על שכם כל אלו שעליהם להיות בסדר, והרי תקותי ובטחוני שבודאי הוא בכללם, ולפשיטות הענין בודאי שאין צורך באריכות וכן בטח אין צורך להראותו הבמה בה יכול להשתמש להנ"ל, שהרי נדפסו כמה מאמריו וכתביו בכו"כ מקומות וגם בפ"ע, ואף שלכאורה כבר מתקרבים לסיום השנה האמורה, הנה נוסף על העיקר - שגם בשנת המאתים ואחת, הרי הציווי להפצת המעינות בתקפו הוא, אף שאינו תאריך יובל, הנה גם בשנה זו עצמה כמה ימים עד לסיומה וכו"כ שעות ורגעים, והרי בשעתא חדא וברגעא חדא - יכולים לחולל גדולות ונצורות, באם מביאים בפועל כל הכחות והאוצרות אשר בנפש יהודי פנימה, ובלשון רבנו הזקן, כשמתגלה לא רק הארת נקודת הלב אלא גם עצמיות נקודת הלב (לקו"ת, ד"ה השני כי תצא למלחמה על אויביך ונתנו ה' אלקיך בידיך, סעיף ג') והרי התחלת כל חלקי הטורים חלק או"ח הוא: הוי כו' כצבי כו' לעשות רצון אביך שבשמים.

ויהי רצון שאתבשר טוב בכל האמור, וכנ"ל - שנשלח המכתב מהיר דחוף.
