By the grace of Hashem,

I greet you and bless you,

You inform me that you are moving into a new apartment, and here is my response. May Hashem grant that in changing places, you also change your Mazal*, for good and for blessing, materially and spiritually. With my blessing to give good tidings, as well as to be inscribed and sealed for a good year.

The saying of our masters and leaders is known, regarding the "groans of those who seek comfort." It states that such displays inspire disgust, which clearly means that they are not referring to what is clearly forbidden. In fact, this is a well-known state of mind, whose nature is that of mud, of quicksand into which one sinks to the deepest point, which would be unthinkable, with the "permission" of the Torah* — which means that one regrets nothing, that one does not arrive at Teshuvah* (note 1: Having no awareness of transgressing a Prohibition). According to a particularly distressing rumor, it seems that you and others have the awareness of having reached the goal. You are therefore satisfied with your moral lot, with your study of the revealed part of the Torah*, of Chassidus*, with the fervor of your prayer, with your zealous acts aimed at disseminating the wellsprings (note 2: Of Chassidus*) — for yourself, for others, for your entire surroundings. However, a person must advance, strive to make an addition, despite the comfort provided by the body and everything that pertains to it, the nap and the pleasant sleep. Does the descent (note 3: Of the soul) "from a lofty peak to a deep pit" justify itself in order to receive such an "elevation"?

ידוע פתגם רבותינו נשיאינו ע"ד "בעה"ב הנחות" איך שזהו דבר המאוס (שמתואר זה ג"כ מוכח, שאין המדובר לשלול דבר שנאסר במפורש), והרי זהו ה"געמיטליכקייט" הידועה, שטבעה כטיט ויון מצולה, שנשקעים ר"ל מטה מטה ["ברשות" התורה - ובמילא על מה יתחרט ויעשה תשובה]. וע"פ השמועה הכי מצערת, כנראה שהוא ו... שי' ועוד - הגיעו "לתכלית" [...] שמחים ב"ה בחלקם ברוחניות (בנגלה, בחסידות בעבודת התפלה וכו'), ומפעולותיהם הכי נמרצות בהפצת המעינות בהנוגע לעצמם, לזולתם ולכל הסביבה. אלא שכיון שעל האדם להיות מהלך משתדלים להוסיף בכל הנוחיות דחומר הגוף ועניניו - מתוך שינת הצהרים ושנתם ערבה להם. האומנם הירידה מאיגרא רמה לבירא עמיקתא - היא בשביל "עלי'" זו?
