Igrot Kodesh · Letter 7357 — Shidduchim

By the grace of Hashem,

I greet you and bless you,

We are in proximity to the 12th and 13th of Tammuz*, the festival of liberation of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, leader of our generation, who gave of himself in order to disseminate the Torah* in general and the wellsprings (note 1: Of Chassidus*) in particular. On this occasion, I cannot refrain from writing the following lines to you. You remained here for a certain period of time (note 2: This letter is addressed to young men from Eretz Yisrael* who pursued their studies for some time in the Yeshivah* near the Rebbe), and it is impossible that this did not exercise an influence upon you — that you do not conform to the will and the hope of our masters. I had therefore told myself that upon your return, after your ascent to the Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, you would immediately begin, you would leap, you would invest yourself at once in the strengthening, the development, and the deepening of everything that concerns my father-in-law, the Rebbe, in Kfar Chabad* and its surroundings, with true warmth and enthusiasm — especially since such activities, for the most part, truly need to be expanded, as you can observe with your own eyes. All that is lacking are persons devoting themselves to this.

To my great sorrow, I have not yet received news of this enthusiasm, nor even of activities conducted in the spirit that has just been defined. Now, there is not a day that one does not receive letters emphasizing the lack of accomplishments carried out within the framework of Kfar Chabad*, in general, and the Chabad* youth on site, in particular — whether it concerns, for example, local projects or trips and visits. Moreover, certain of these structures promised their participation in what would be done. Yet, for the time being, nothing has been undertaken. Furthermore, if one takes into account the fact that the date of each of your marriages approaches, at a good and fruitful moment, it is precisely now that one must seize this opportunity. For this is indeed the foundation upon which one can build a Jewish home, a Chassidic* home — and there is no need to say more, so evident is this.

May Hashem grant that a solution be found immediately upon receipt of this letter. As the Alter Rebbe* indicates at the end of chapter 9 of Iggeres HaTeshuvah*: "One who was accustomed to reading one page (note 3: Before committing the transgression and who desires to attain Teshuvah*) shall read two (note 4: In order to attain this Teshuvah*)." You must, furthermore, lead those who are near you and in your surroundings to carry out these fundamental activities, which are precisely means of building. I await your good tidings. With my blessing to give these good tidings and on the occasion of the festival of liberation,

בעמדנו בסמיכות לימי י"ב וי"ג תמוז חג הגאולה של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר נשיא דורנו, שמסר נפשו על הפצת התורה בכלל והפצת המעינות ביחוד, לא אמנע מכתיבת שורותי הבאות להלן, והן:

אמור אמרתי, אשר לאחרי שהיו הם כאן משך זמן, והרי אי אפשר שלא יהי' איזה רושם מזה, להתאים לרצון רבותינו ותקותם, הנה בחזרתם ועלייתם לאה"ק ת"ו בכלל ובפרט לכפר חב"ד מיסודו ובהנהלתו של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, הנה תיכף יכנסו ובאופן דקפיצה והשקעה (אריינשפרינגען און אריינטאן זיך) בביסוס והרחבת והעמקת עניני כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר אשר בכפר חב"ד וסביבו מתוך התלהבות וחיות אמיתיים ובפרט שרובא דרובא הענינים אשר שם, גם בעיני בשר רואים שיש להרחיבם כהנה וכהנה, והחסרון רק כח אדם.

ולצערי עד עתה לא קבלתי כל ידיעות, לא רק מהתלהבות האמורה אלא גם פעולות ברוח האמור, אף שאין לך יום שלא מתקבלים מכתבים ע"ד חסרון בפעולות במסגרת כפר חב"ד בכלל במסגרת צעירי אגו"ח אשר שם בפרט הן על אתר והן מנסיעות וביקורים וכו' וכו', ולא עוד אלא שבאיזה מסגרות האמורות דברו ע"ד השתתפותם בהאמור ולעולם לא בא לפועל, ונוסף על האמור בהביא בחשבון, אשר בשעה טובה ומוצלחת מתקרב זמן חתונתו של כ"א מהם, הרי עתה היא העת לנצל כל האפשריות בהנ"ל, והרי זה גם משמש ליסוד לבנות בית בישראל בית חסידותי, ואין להאריך בדבר הפשוט.

ויהי רצון שעכ"פ תיכף לקבלת מכתבי זה יתוקן האמור, וכהוראת רבנו הזקן באגרת התשובה סוף פרק ט' הי' רגיל לקרות דף אחד יקרא ב' דפים כו', וגם על אחרים שבמחיצתם וסביבתם להביאם לפעולות חיוניות האמורות פעולות של בנין דוקא, ואצפה לבשו"ט.
