By the grace of Hashem,

Parshas* "At the well" (note 1: Parshas* Balak) 5720,

Bicentennial of the Hilloula* of the Baal Shem Tov*,

Brooklyn, New York,

I greet you and bless you,

I duly received your letter (note 2: A single letter was addressed to many people). We now return from Rosh Chodesh*, from the Shabbos* Rosh Chodesh*, which includes within itself both the elevation of Shabbos* and that of the month, as explained by the Chassidic* discourse entitled: "And it shall be each Rosh Chodesh* and each Shabbos*," in the Likkutei Torah*, Parshas* Berachah, and the Or HaTorah*, Parshas* Bereishis. We are entering, in this case, the month of liberation (note 3: Of the Frierdiker Rebbe* from the Soviet prisons, on the 12th and 13th of Tammuz*) — that of Tammuz*. May Hashem therefore grant that you give me good tidings. You will tell me that all accomplishments, communal and personal alike, are liberated from everything that obstructs them — from barriers and limits.

This will introduce a renewal of forces, to which Rosh Chodesh* alludes — from that of delight, which corresponds to Shabbos*, to that of concrete action. All of this is revealed essentially in concrete action, through activities linked to the dissemination of Judaism in general and of the wellsprings (note 4: Of Chassidus*) in particular — especially on the occasion of the festival of liberation of the 12th and 13th of Tammuz*, which approaches. Now, we have been taught in the holy epistle of our master the Baal Shem Tov* that one thereby brings closer the true and complete redemption, within all of Israel, through our righteous Moshiach*. With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,

ובבואנו זה עתה מר"ח ושבת ר"ח (הכולל מעלת יום השבת ויום החדש גם יחד - שענינם מבואר בד"ה והי' מדי חודש גו' שבת גו', שבלקו"ת פ' ברכה ואור התורה פ' בראשית) חדש הגאולה חדש תמוז.

יהי רצון שיבשר טוב אשר נגאלים כל הענינים הכללים והפרטים גם יחד מכל הבלבולים המניעות והעכובים.

ואשר מביא זה להתחדשות (ענין ר"ח) הכוחות מתחיל מכח התענוג (ענין שבת) ועד לכח העשי' ונמשך כ"ז בהעיקר הוא המעשה - פעולות בהפצת היהדות בכלל והפצת המעינות ביחוד ובפרט בקשר עם חג הגאולה יב-יג תמוז הבע"ל.

והרי הודיעונו באגה"ק של מורנו הבעש"ט ז"ל אשר עי"ז גם מקרבים את הגאולה האמיתית והשלימה בתוככי כללות ישראל על ידי משיח צדקנו.
