To the students of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* Lubavitch, on the occasion of the graduation ceremony (note 2: Of the school year), in Montreal,

May Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

I learned with pleasure of your graduation ceremony (note 3: In English in the original text, "graduation"), even though it is clear that a conclusion of the Torah* must be linked to its beginning and imply the passage to a higher level (note 4: And not be an end in itself). I express the wish that it be so for all the students taking part in this graduation. It is surely unnecessary to say more to students of the Yeshivah* Lubavitch.

This graduation ceremony will surely unfold under the influence of the bicentennial of the Hilloula* of our master, the Baal Shem Tov*, which was celebrated on the first day of Shavuos*, time of the giving of our Torah*. The Baal Shem Tov* asked that the Torah* and the Mitzvos* be put into practice precisely with joy, that the love of Hashem be linked to the love of one's fellow through the love of the Torah* and, as is the case for everything that belongs to the Torah*, he infused the necessary strength to achieve this. One can deduce from this how important the love of the Torah* must be, being the median point and the link between the two other loves. It is therefore in this way that one attains the highest level of the service of Hashem, in joy and in enthusiasm.

May Hashem grant success to all of you and to each one of you, so that you ascend in the study of the Torah* and in the practice of the Mitzvos*, which will be, as has just been said, pervaded by the clarity and warmth of Chassidus*. With my blessing of success, both material and spiritual,
