I greet you and bless you,

After a particularly long interruption, I duly received your letter of this Wednesday, requesting a blessing. At a propitious moment, your name will be mentioned near the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us, in accordance with what you write to me. May Hashem grant that you give me good tidings thereof.

You will understand my astonishment and my surprise upon noting that you mention nothing in your letter about the activities you undertake to disseminate Judaism in general and the wellsprings (note 1: Of Chassidus*) in particular. This year marks, indeed, the bicentennial of the passing of our master the Baal Shem Tov*, and the terms of his holy epistle are well known, according to which "the master (note 2: King Moshiach*) will come" when his wellsprings spread outward. Nor do you tell me about your participation in the activities of Beis Lubavitch* (note 3: Presumably of London), and this too is very surprising, given that Divine Providence has granted you the merit of a considerable and profound closeness to my father-in-law, the Rebbe, leader of Israel. May Hashem grant that you give me good tidings of this as well. With my blessing,

בעת רצון יזכירוהו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע מתאים לתוכן כתבו, ויהי רצון שיבשר טוב בזה.

מובנת הפליאה והתמי', שאינו מזכיר במכתבו דבר בהנוגע לפעולותיו בהנוגע להפצת היהדות בכלל והפצת המעינות ביחוד, אשר השנה היא שנת המאתים להסתלקות מורנו הבעל שם טוב ז"ל, וידועים דברי אגה"ק שלו, אשר לכשיפוצו מעינותיו חוצה קאתי מר. וכן לא - מהשתתפותו בפעולות בית ליובאוויטש, שגם בזה פליאה גדולה לאחרי אשר השגחה העליונה זיכתו בהקירוב הגדול ופנימי מכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר נשיא ישראל, ויהי רצון שיבשר טוב גם בזה.
