Igrot Kodesh · Letter 7317 — Faith & Bitachon

By the grace of Hashem,

28 Iyar* 5720,

Brooklyn,

To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, the Rav Yisrael (note 1: Rav I. Leibov, of Kfar Chabad*, director of the activities of the Chabad* youth. See, regarding him, letter no. 7088),

I greet you and bless you,

I duly received your letter of 23 Iyar*, with what was enclosed therewith. I am confident that the pamphlet to which you allude has been corrected in the manner that is fitting, as I have specified many times. You allude to the Matzah Shemurah* campaign. What I said on this subject in my previous letter (note 2: Letter no. 7292) can be deduced from the statement of our Sages* according to which: "What the rich person..." (note 3: Gives to the poor is inferior to what the poor person gives to the rich). How much more so is this the case when it concerns Matzah Shemurah*. Indeed, you surely have knowledge of the account of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, who observed a change of nature in several students when they devoted themselves to the preparation of Matzah Shemurah* (note 4: See, on this subject, Likkutei Dibburim*, Volume 1, page 123a).

In any case, what I said on this subject in my letter does not concern the past but is indeed an invitation to increased eagerness for the present, for the near future, and even for the distant future. Indeed, all of this is quite clear for anyone who acts in all that concerns our Torah* and its Mitzvos*, "whose measure is longer than the earth and broader than the sea," for "Your Mitzvah* is very broad." One must therefore multiply such activities beyond all comparison (note 5: With what has been done until now), as can be deduced from what has just been said. Indeed, however broad a measure may be, it remains incomparable to what is "very broad" (note 6: To the point of surpassing all measure). With my blessing to give good tidings of all this, as well as to receive the Torah* with joy and in a profound manner,
