To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, the Rav Gershon Mendel (note 1: Rav G. M. Garelik, of Milan. See, regarding him, letters no. 6614 and 7396),

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of 21 Iyar*, with the request for blessing that was enclosed therewith. Furthermore, I duly received your telegram. At a propitious moment, this request for blessing will be read near the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us. May Hashem grant that you announce good tidings to me on this subject, as well as regarding the addition you will make, in the broadest manner, to your sacred accomplishments. You will consult, in this matter, Tractate Sanhedrin* 21a. And nothing resists the will.

You will act in the world — namely, in your city; in the soul — among those who have had the merit of being students of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim*; in the year (note 2: In accordance with the three dimensions of the world: space, time, and soul) — in these propitious days, on the occasion of the bicentennial of the Hilloula* of the Baal Shem Tov* and the festival of Shavuos*, the date of this Hilloula*, which falls on the same day of the week (note 3: As the passing), a Wednesday, when the luminaries were suspended and removed, according to the expression of the Alter Rebbe*, author of the Tanya* and Decisor of the hidden part of the Torah*, author of the Shulchan Aruch* and Decisor of the revealed part of the Torah*. May Hashem grant that you lead all those around you toward a service of Hashem in accordance with what has just been defined, in the manner of: "You shall spread forth" (note 4: To the west and to the east, to the north and to the south). And it is regarding this that it has been said that nothing resists the will. With my blessing to receive the Torah* with joy and in a profound manner, as well as to give good tidings of all this,

ובעת רצון יקרא הפ"נ על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע ויהי רצון שיבשר טוב בזה, וכן מההוספה בפעולות בקדש, כהנה וכהנה (עיין סנהדרין כ"א א') [והרי אין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון] בעולם (מחנם הט') נפש (לאלו שזכו ללמוד בישיבת תו"ת) שנה (בימי סגולה אלו שנת המאתים להסתלקות הילולא של מורנו הבעש"ט ז"ל וחג השבועות יום ההילולא המאתים שלו וחל באותו היום, ביום הרביעי, בו נטלו ונתלו המאורות, וכדברי רבנו הזקן בעל התניא - פוסק בנסתר דתורה - והשו"ע פוסק בנגלה דתורה).

ויהי רצון שאת כל סביבתו יעורר לעבודה בכיוון האמור ועד לאופן דופרצת, והרי גם על כגון דא נאמר, אין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון.
