To the Rav, Chassid* who fears Hashem, ...,

Greetings and blessings,

I received, in their time, your letters and the requests for blessing that were attached to them. I read the latter in the office of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, where one enters to receive a blessing and a yechidus*. I will also read them at the gravesite, in an opportune moment.

The Tzaddik* who leaves this world is found there more than during his lifetime. He will grant his blessing and Hashem will fulfill it completely, materially and spiritually.

You speak to me of some children whom you are trying to keep at the Yeshivah. Will you kindly communicate to me their names. You must explain calmly to the parents that a good education does not have as its sole goal the formation of rabbis or "women rabbis." In the present period, it is, above all, an act of protection against assimilation, Hashem forbid.

Whatever the situation of these parents, it is clear that they are all animated by the desire that their children fully assume their Judaism. To have the assurance that this will indeed be so, ten or twenty years later, one must bring them the broadest measure of this Judaism. In parallel, the father and mother will ask Hashem that their children remain in their Judaism, despite all the trials they will have to undergo, that they be good Jews in their relationship with Hashem, toward their parents, in what concerns them directly, and toward others.

You tell me that you suffer from a skin affection of the left hand, on the outer part of the palm. I hope that you are already cured. This was no doubt an effect of emotion. Therefore think no more of this and this affection will disappear. In any case, it would be good, especially now, during the month of Elul, to have your Tefillin checked, in particular those of the arm. You will also check the measure and the width of the straps.

You surely organize, from time to time, a gathering with all those who work with you at the Yeshivah. I refer to a gathering as the Rebbe wanted it and still wants it, at the present hour — a fraternal gathering, intended to strengthen Torah and Mitzvos*, in general, and the love of one's fellow, of Torah, and of Hashem, in particular. I insist on obtaining good news in this domain.

You will find enclosed the booklet edited on the occasion of 18 Elul, which has just appeared. You will no doubt make it available to the greatest number, in the way that suits best.

Greeting all the members of your family, each one in particular, and addressing to you my blessing for you to be inscribed and sealed for a good year,
