Igrot Kodesh · Letter 73 — Comprehensive Communal Update: Yeshiva, Beis Rivkah, Shabbos Groups, and Publications

To our dear friend, Rav Menachem Zeev Gringlass,

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of 22 Nissan, to your postcard of 27 Nissan, and to your letter of 8 Iyar.

A) We share in your joy on the occasion of the purchase of a building for the Yeshiva [1] and we send you our best wishes, from the depth of our heart.

B) We took note with pleasure, in your letter, of the positive actions being carried out, with the help of Hashem, in your city, in particular the increase in the enrollment of the Yeshiva students, the good impression made by the public gathering, and the institution of Mesibos Shabbos for the boys and for the girls.

C) It is very positive that you had meetings for the creation of the Beis Rivkah. Let us hope that this expression of good will shall be followed by results, as quickly as possible, with the help of Hashem.

D) You will be able to learn how to organize the Mesibos Shabbos in the album that we sent you, in the report that you received some time ago, and in the instructions for the counselors that you also have.

If you have specific questions, you may transmit them to us.

E) We have requested that the publications be sent to you in the quantity that you ordered.

F) We learned with satisfaction that Rav Y. Weinberg [2] was able to create a "group of those who observe Shabbos*" and we read in the newspaper what was accomplished by this group.

You will keep us regularly informed of what is accomplished by this group.

G) We learned with joy what is being organized by Aharon Klein, Nosson Felig, and Eliezer Silver.

H) The cards that you distribute for participation in the Mesibos Shabbos [3] and of which you sent us a few samples do indeed give us full satisfaction, but we do not understand how you will be able to use them during Shabbos. Even if those who distribute them specify that it is forbidden to carry them on one's person during that day, they may also forget to do so and those who receive them, according to their habit, will carry them.

Furthermore, one must ask what those who see these cards will think without knowing the difficulties they may pose [4].

I) Glushtein transmitted to me eleven dollars and fifty cents for the Sefer Torah [5].

J) Let me know which discourses of the Rebbe* published in Riga and in Warsaw you are referring to, so that we may more easily verify whether the texts are available.

K) Rav Eliyahu Nachum Barenholtz sells sacred books in Toronto. He wrote to us, among other things, that it would be good if a person spent some time in that city to strengthen family purity* there. You could perhaps look into this proposal.

במענה על מכתבו מכב ניסן וגלויתו מכז ניסן ומכתבו מח' אייר: א) משתתפים אנו בשמחתכם לרגלי קנין הבנין עבור הישיבה ושולחים לכם את ברכותינו מקרב לבב.

ב) נהנינו לקרוא במכתבו ע"ד פעולות הטובות שנעשו בע"ה במחנכם בכלל, ובפרט מה שנוספו תלמידים לישיבה, הרושם הטוב מהאספה הפומבית, ויסוד "מסבות שבת" לנערים ולנערות.

ג) טוב מאד שהתחלתם כבר לדון ע"ד יסוד "בית רבקה" והבה נקוה כי הרצון הטוב יצא בע"ה מן הכח אל הפועל בהקדם הכי אפשרי.

ד) ע"ד סדר ההנהגה במסיבות שבת יוכלו להודע מאלבום ששלחנו לו, ומהדו"ח ע"ד מסבות שבת אשר שלחו לו מכבר ומהאינסטרוקציות למדריכים ולמדריכות אשר שלחנו לכם.

ובאם יש לכם שאלות מפורטות הנה נא לכתוב לנו אודותן.

ה) צוינו לשלח לו את עניני הדפוס במספר שבקש.

ו) שמחנו לשמוע כי עלה בע"ה בידי הר' ר"י שי' וויינבערג ליסד "מזהירי שבת" גם קראנו הכתוב בעתון ע"ד פעולותי'.

בטח יודיענו לעתים קרובות מכל הנפעל ע"י "מזהירי שבת".

ז) נהנינו מהודעתו ע"ד פעולות הג' אהרן שי' קליין, נתן שי' פעליג ואליעזר שי' סילווער.

ח) הכרטיסים לבקר את "מסבות שבת" אשר הדפסתם ושלחתם לנו לדוגמא אמנם מצאו חן בעינינו, אבל איננו מבינים איך יוכלו להשתמש בהן בשבת, ובאם גם יודיעו המחלקים בעת חלוקתן כי אין להביאן בשבת, סוכ"ס השכחה מצוי' גם בין המחלקים, והמקבלים את הכרטיסים עלולים, כרגילות תמיד בכרטיסי כניסה, להביאן בשבת.

ולבד כל זה, הנה יש לחוש משום מראית עין של הרואים את הכרטיסים ואינם יודעים את התירוצים על הקושיות המתעוררות לרגלי זה.

ט) גלושטיין שי' מסר אחד עשר דאללאר ו-50 סענט עבור הס"ת.

י) בענין "שיחות" אשר יצאו לאור עוד בריגא ובורשא, נא להודיענו לאיזו מהן הוא מכון בכדי שיקל לנו לברר אם אפשר להשיגן.

יא) ר' אלי' נחום שי' בארענהאלץ, מוכר ספרים בטאראנטא, בתוך שאר דברים כתב לנו כי כדאי שיבא מי שמה לאיזה זמן, כדי לחזק את ענין טהרת המשפחה, אולי אפשר לכם להתענין בדבר...
