I greet you and bless you,

A) I am responding to your letter of this Sunday, in which you ask me about what the testament of Rabbi Yehudah HaChassid* says regarding the first names of a woman and her mother-in-law (note 1: Having the same name. See, on this subject, letters no. 5442 and 6104). One must retain, in this matter, what was reported to you in the name of the Tzemach Tzedek* — namely, that if one of them has two first names (note 2: The second being specific to one of the two), "there is absolutely nothing to fear," according to his expression. You will consult the Responsa of the Tzemach Tzedek*, section Even HaEzer*, chapter 143, and his Piskei Dinim*, section Yoreh Deah*, chapter 116.

B) Of course, it is necessary in such a case that the second name not be forgotten (note 3: That it be commonly in use). For, if that were the case, the first names would indeed be identical. The Tur* and the Shulchan Aruch*, at chapter 129, as well as their commentaries, define what must be done so that a name not be forgotten (note 4: At what frequency it must be used).

On this occasion, I have the duty and the merit of pointing out to you the necessity of fixing a regular time to study the inner dimension of the Torah*. In our era, this has been revealed through Chassidus*. If at all times and in all places this has been a necessity, how much more so is this the case in our era and in these regions, especially since you are about to marry and build an everlasting edifice. במענה למכתבו מיום הראשון, בו כותב בענין צוואת ר"י החסיד בהנוגע לשמות כלה וחמותה.

ונראה השמועה שאמרו לו בשם כ"ק אדמו"ר הצמח צדק, שכיון שלאחת מהן שני שמות, הרי בלשונו הק', אין שום חשש בעולם כלל וכלל, עיין שו"ת הצ"צ חלק אבה"ע סי' קמ"ג ופסקי דינים להצ"צ יו"ד סי' קט"ז.

ב) מובן שצריך שלא ישתקע השם השני באופן שישתוו השמות וגדר שם שנשתקע הרי מובא בטור ושו"ע ונ"כ סי' קכ"ט.

וכאן עלי החובה והזכות לעוררו על ההכרח בקביעות עתים בלימוד פנימיות התורה אשר בדורנו נתגלתה בתורת החסידות, שאם בכל המקומות ובכל הזמנים הי' הכרח בזה עאכו"כ בתקופתנו ובמדינות אלו ביחוד, וביחוד שעומד לפני חתונתו בנין בית בישראל בנין עדי עד.
