To the directors of the teachers' training school Beis Rivkah* and to those of the Beis Rivkah* school, whom Hashem will grant long life,

I greet you and bless you,

A) I am responding to your letter of 8 Iyar*, in which you discuss the vacation program for this coming summer. For various reasons, you wish to modify the organization you have adopted until now. As you say at the end of your letter, it is necessary to take counsel on this subject, down to the smallest detail, according to the conditions of the place — that is, those of the families of the students, of their parents. Of course, one will also take into account the organization that has been adopted in France and in the other schools based on sacred values that belong to the same category. The general idea in this matter, even if it is not always possible to reveal it, is the following: the shorter the vacations — which eliminate sacred studies — the better. All of this is quite evident.

B) When the students are exempted from secular studies, they understand better, more broadly, and more profoundly those of the Torah*, since it is no longer necessary to invest in another domain.

C) In this matter, there is also another point. It is in this way that the student learns to distinguish between the sacred and the profane, between light and darkness. Indeed, it is thus made quite clear that one study is limited to certain periods, while the other, which is essential, surpasses it. As I have said, these are only general considerations. Concretely, one will certainly need to take them into account, but one will also act according to the conditions, as has been said. I send you my blessing for considerable success in your holy mission — the education of Jewish girls based on sacred values, each of them being called a daughter of Sarah, Rivkah, Rochel, and Leah.

במענה למכתבם מיום ח' אייר, בו כותבים אודות קביעות זמן החופש בקיץ הבע"ל, שכמה טעמים לשינוי הסדר שהי' עד עתה.

וכסיום מכתבם יש להתייעץ על הענין ופרטיו בהתאם לתנאי המקום, ז.א. תנאי בתי התלמידות והוריהם וכמובן גם להביא בחשבון הסדר בצרפת במוסדות חינוך על טהרת הקדש מסוג שלהם.

נקודות הכלליות בזה, אף שלא תמיד ניתנו לגלות, שכל שממעטים בחופש מלימוד בקדש ה"ז משובח, כמובן וגם פשוט.

ב) בעת שאין לימודי חול, מסוגל אז הת' לקלוט יותר בטוב ברוחב ובעומק הלימודי קדש, כיון שאין עסוקים בשטח אחר.

ג) עוד נקודה בזה, שזה גם מדגיש בעניני המחונך, ההבדלה בין קדש לחול בין אור לחשך, שזהו לימוד בעתים מסוימים, משא"כ לימוד העיקרי הרי נוסף עליו וכו'.

כאמור לעיל ה"ז בא בתור נקודה כללית, ובהנוגע לפועל אף שיש להתחשב עם הנ"ל, מוכרח להביא בחשבון תנאים האמורים.

בברכה להצלחה מופלגה בעבודתם בקדש חינוך על טהרת הקדש של בנות ישראל שכל אחת מהן נקראת בת שרה רבקה רחל ולאה.
