To the Rav, Chassid* who fears Hashem, the Rav ...,

Greetings and blessings,

I reply to your letter of the first day of Rosh Chodesh Elul. As you wish, I will mention your name and that of the members of your family at the gravesite and in the office of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, so that the needs of each be satisfied.

You ask me about the means of assuring your sustenance. It is clear that one must have recourse to natural ways, as Sefer HaMitzvos of the Tzemach Tzedek says, on page 106a, and Kuntres U'Mayan, in discourse 17. When one forges receptacles, in a natural manner, Hashem grants His blessing to satisfy your needs and those of your family.

You speak of the trade in esrogim. May Hashem grant, if you adopt this activity, that it be fruitful for you. Nonetheless, it is only seasonal, and you must earn your living in a fixed manner. And it is said that when one makes the appropriate effort, one obtains the expected result.

You no doubt have a fixed time to study the teaching of my father-in-law, the Rebbe. That is the receptacle that makes it possible to arouse and to receive his blessings, material and spiritual.

במענה על מכתבו מיום א' דר"ח אלול, הנה כבקשתו אזכירו ואת ב"ב שיחיו באהל ובהיכל כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ, לכל אחד ואחת כפי המצטרך להם.

בנוגע לשאלתו בענין פרנסה, הנה בודאי צריך לעשות כלים טבעיים, וכמבואר בספר המצות להצ"צ (דף [קו, א]) ובקונטרס ומעין (מאמר [יז]), וכאשר עושים כלים בטבע הרי יתן השי"ת ברכתו להמצטרך לו ולב"ב שי'.

מה שכותב בנוגע למסחר אתרוגים, יהי רצון שאם יעשה זה יהי' בהצלחה, אבל אין זה אלא עסק ארעי, וצריך לחפש אחרי עסק פרנסה קבוע, ויגעת - ומצאת.

בטח יש לו קביעות עתים בתורת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ, אשר זהו כלי להמשכת וקבלת ברכותיו בגשמיות וברוחניות.
