I greet you and bless you,

I duly received your letter of 2 Kislev*, with what was enclosed. You tell me that you will comply with this directive out of submission. Yet this is not the way it should be done. When it comes to exerting influence on others, particularly those who possess no prior knowledge — when, moreover, this concerns mature adults who possess broad knowledge of moral disciplines — it is indispensable to pronounce, in the expression of our Sages*, "words emanating from the heart." Such influence must be based on emotion more than on cold intellect. Even though our Sages* give the assurance that: "an effort is never in vain," the true effort must be expressed in terms that one has made one's own, even when one has heard, seen, or read them from someone else.

It follows from all this that you must incorporate into the correspondence you exchange with these people the part of my letters that you have perceived and felt. As for the part you have not yet internalized, it is certain that the time will come for that, for Hashem arranged that everything unfold well in its time. May Hashem grant that in these days between 10 Kislev* — the liberation of the Mitteler Rebbe* — and 19 Kislev* — the liberation of our master, the Alter Rebbe* — the redemption be revealed in all domains, communal and personal alike. With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מב' כסלו עם המצורף אליו, ובמ"ש שימלא הפקודה מטעם קבלת עול, - אין לעשות הענין באופן האמור, כי בענינים כהנ"ל, ז.א. שצריך להשפיע על אחרים, בפרט על אלו שאפשר עדיין אין להם כל הכרה בענין, וכשהמדובר באנשים מבוגרים ויש להם ידיעה רחבה בשטח הנק' מדעים רוחנים, מוכרח הדבר לבוא באופן הנקרא בדברי חז"ל יוצאין מן הלב, שהרי ההשפעה צ"ל יותר מצד הרגש מאשר ע"י השכל הקר, אף שהובטחנו מחז"ל שחזקה לתעמולה שאינה חוזרת ריקם, התעמולה אמיתית היא כשנעשית באותיות עצמיים אף שהאותיות הם ששמע וראה וקראם וכו'.

המורם מהנ"ל שאותו חלק ממכתבי, שהונח ונתקבל אצלו, יש להכניסו בהקשורי מכתבים שלו עמהם, והחלק שעדיין לא הוקלט, בודאי שעדיין חזון למועד, ואת הכל עשה יפה בעתו...

ויהי רצון שכיון שנמצאים אנו בין הימים דיו"ד כסלו, גאולת כ"ק אדמו"ר האמצעי, וי"ט כסלו גאולת רבנו אדמו"ר הזקן, הנה תומשך הגאולה בכל הענינים הכללים והפרטים גם יחד.
