To the distinguished Chassid*, who fears Hashem,
Rav M. [1],

Greetings and blessings,

It has been a long time since I had news from you. I hope you are well, as well as all your family.

I enclose a letter I have just received from our friend, the great Rav, Chassid who fears Hashem and devotes himself faithfully to communal needs, the great scholar, Rav Shlomo Yosef Zevin [2], of whom you have surely heard. He was one of the great communal leaders in Russia, and he is one at the present time in our Holy Land. He is, moreover, the editor of the Talmudic Encyclopedia.

It is doubtless unnecessary to underline to you the importance of the content of the enclosed letter. Without doubt, you will do everything in your power in this domain.

I thank you in advance for kindly clarifying for me what your intervention will be in this matter. Likewise, I would be grateful if you would kindly return to me the enclosed letter, when it has served you.

I conclude by wishing you to be inscribed and sealed for a good year, together with all your family,

זה זמן רב שלא שמעתי ממנו ובטח הכל שלום לכבודו ולכל בני ביתו שיחיו.

מוסגר פה מכתב שקבלתי זה עתה מידידנו הרה"ג הרה"ח הוו"ח אי"א עוסק בצרכי ציבור באמונה ספרא רבא, הרב ר' שלמה יוסף שי' זעווין, אשר בטח שמע כבו' אדותיו שהי' אחד מראשי העסקנים הציבוריים ברוסיא ועתה הוא מראשי העסקנים בארצנו הקדושה ת"ו, עורך האנציקלופדיא התלמודית וכו'.

בודאי לכבו' לא נצרך התעוררות בנוגע להענין האמור במכתב המוסגר פה, ובלי ספק יעשה מה שביכלתו בענין זה.

תודתי אמורה לכבו' מראש אם יואיל להודיעני מאשר יעשה בזה, וכן בעד הטרחה להחזיר לי המכתב המוסגר פה אחרי שהשתמש בו.
