I greet you and bless you,
You describe to me, with sorrow, the relationship that such and such a person maintains with religious concerns, when the reality should have been the opposite. It seems that this is one of those points that has not changed for many years, even since the generation preceding ours, and the one before that, as the accounts of the communal leaders of that era demonstrate.
Of course, this is only a half consolation, or perhaps even less than that. Nevertheless, already in the past, we carried the victory. There is therefore no doubt that this will be the case once again, now. However, it is regrettable to have to mobilize forces to fight against evil, when one could have invested them, with all the necessary ardor, in the fulfillment of the precept: "Do good." With my blessing for great success in your sacred mission, in good health, with joy and enthusiasm,

... ולכתבו בצער ע"ד יחס פלוני ופלוני לענינים דתיים, אף שצריך הי' להיות בהיפך וכו', - הנה כנראה שזהו אחד מהענינים שלא חל בהם שינוי משנים שעברו וגם מהדור שלפני דורנו ושלפניו, וכידוע מסיפורי העסקנים בימים ההם, ואף שמובן שזוהי רק חצי נחמה ואפשר עוד פחות מזה, הנה מאידך גיסא כמו שסו"ס דידן נצח אז בעבר, בודאי שכן יהי' גם עתה, אף שחבל שצריך לנצל כחות בהנ"ל (מלחמה בהרע) בה בשעה שהיו יכולים בכחות אלו ובמרץ זה לפעול בהקו דועשה טוב...
