Igrot Kodesh · Letter 7062 — Tzedakah

By the grace of Hashem,

1 Marcheshvan* 5720,

Brooklyn,

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter of 28 Tishrei*, with what was enclosed. You will understand that I am surprised and astonished to observe your discouragement, when Divine Providence has granted you the merit and the success of carrying out a sacred mission within the youth of the Chabad* association, whose inner dimension is the dissemination of the wellsprings (note 1: Of Chassidus*) to the outside. And you know the ruling of our Torah* that: "one who accepts... (note 2: The yoke of the Heavenly Kingdom is no longer subject to the contingencies of the world)." May Hashem grant that you give me good tidings soon, of a visible and tangible good, in all the domains you mention.

We are on the morrow of the seventh month (note 3: That of Tishrei*, seventh after Nissan*, the month of the Exodus from Egypt), and this designation applies indeed to this entire month. Our Sages* emphasize that it is "sated (note 4: Shevi'i*, seventh, shares the same etymology as Musba*, sated) with every good," that it has a general scope, that it extends throughout the year, on condition that one puts into practice the Torah* and the mitzvos*, which are the channel and the vessels enabling one to reveal and integrate the blessings and influences granted by Hashem. מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מכ"ח תשרי עם המצורף אליו. ומובנת הפליאה והתמי' שהוא מדוכא וכו', בה בשעה אשר השגחה העליונה זיכתו והצליחתו לעבוד בעבודת הקדש, עניני צעירי אגו"ח ובנקודה הפנימית הפצת המעינות חוצה. והרי ידוע פסק תורתנו כל המקבל עליו וכו'. ויהי רצון שבקרוב ממש יבשר טוב בטוב הנראה והנגלה, בכל הענינים אודותם כותב.

והרי נמצאים אנו למחרתו של חדש השביעי, שכשמו - כל ימי החדש בכלל זה, ודרשו רז"ל שמושבע הוא בכל טוב, והוא חדש הכללי - שנמשכים עניניו על כל השנה, ובלבד שתהיינה התומ"צ, הצנור והכלים להמשכת וקבלת ברכות והשפעות השי"ת.
