18 Tishrei* 5720,

I am responding to your letter of 13 Tishrei*, in which you present to me the commercial proposals you have received (note 1: The recipient of this letter had received them after going to the place where the Rebbe had made him his emissary) and you ask me what I think of them. Experience has shown that it is not good, not healthy, to mix two activities — communal responsibilities and personal concerns — in a place like yours. Moreover, until this day, everything has gone well in that place. There is therefore no reason to place oneself in a situation of doubt (note 2: About how people will react to this new situation). With my blessing to give good tidings and for a joyous festival (note 3: Of Sukkos*, this letter being dated its fourth day, the second of Chol HaMoed*),

וכבר הראה הנסיון שאינו נכון (ניט קיין געזונטע זאך) כשמערבים שני הענינים צ"צ ועסקים פרטיים יחד במקום כמו... ובפרט שעד עתה התנהגו הענינים ב... במישור, ואין מקום להכנס לספיקות.
