To the leaders of the house of study Beis Yisrael (note 1: That of the Chassidim* of Karlin-Stolin), in the
holy city of Yerushalayim*, may it be restored
and rebuilt, may Hashem grant you long life,
I greet you and bless you,
I have duly received your letter of 25 Elul*, the day of which it was said: "In the beginning, Hashem created..." (note 2: The date of the creation of the world). Now, Bereishis*, "In the beginning," is the anagram of Trei Shabbos*, two Shabbasos*, as the Tikkunei Zohar* explains, in Tikkun 48. Your letter indeed deals with the observance of Shabbos*. You tell me that, for this purpose, you have decided to purchase a machine (note 3: An electric generator, in order not to have recourse to electricity produced by means of a transgression of Shabbos*), which represents a significant investment. I do not have specific funds for this objective, and the existing funds already bear multiple expenses. Despite this, it is said: "I am a companion of all who fear You" (note 4: Tehillim* 119:63), and I therefore enclose a personal check as a symbolic participation in this matter.
May Hashem grant that Jews observe two Shabbasos*. In this way, they will immediately be redeemed by our righteous Moshiach*, in the true and complete redemption. With my respects and my blessing that you be definitively inscribed for a good year,

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבם מכ"ה אלול, יום עליו נאמר בראשית ברא אלקים וגו', בראשית אותיות, תרי שבת (עיין תקו"ז ריש תקון מח'),
בו כותבים אודות ענין שמירת שבת, אשר לכן החליטו לקנות מכונה וכו' הקשורה בכמה הוצאות.
והנה אף כי אין קופה מיוחדת לענינים כגון אלו, ובכלל מצב הקופות שעמוסות הוצאות ע"ג הוצאות,
בכ"ז ע"פ מ"ש חבר אני לכל אשר יראוך, מצורפת בזה המחאה פרטית השתתפות סמלית בענין האמור.
ויהי רצון אשר תרי שבת ישמרו ישראל ומיד הן נגאלין על ידי משיח צדקנו בגאולה האמיתית והשלימה.
