To the attention of the members of the executive committee

of the provisional commission of Bogota,

may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

I received in due time your letter regarding the Chassidic* farbrengen* that was organized with our delegates. You also ask me to send to your city a mentor, for the purpose of establishing an elementary Yeshivah* and strengthening education based on sacred values within your community. I beg you to excuse the delay in my response. Indeed, I wanted to examine the possibilities of acceding to your request. Unfortunately, I have not yet found, for various reasons, the mentor who could suit you. I have therefore decided not to delay my letter any further, for you perhaps have another means of finding the mentor you need.

Furthermore, I must also emphasize to you the great responsibility incumbent upon the members of your community, in particular its leaders — all those who are conscious of the vital needs of the Jews of your city, and first of all in the domain of education based on sacred values. In the meantime, you will find members of the community who will be able to provide a concrete solution to this fundamental problem. I mean that one must organize sacred studies for children, young people, and adults, until you find the suitable mentor who will assume responsibility for education. Our Sages* emphasize that: "The Holy One, blessed be He, does not act with treachery toward His creatures." He demands a good education based on sacred values, and it is therefore a certainty that you will be able, with the appropriate effort, to provide it in the most perfect manner.

In these propitious days, when we recite twice daily Psalm 27 — "Seek My Face. Hashem, I will seek Your Face" — it is certain that one who seeks an intense closeness with Hashem is assured of being able to find it. May Hashem grant that you give me good tidings of this, as I hope. I therefore send you my blessing that each one of you, with all the members of his family, as well as all those who belong to the community, to whom Hashem will grant long life, be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, materially and spiritually alike.

בעתו נתקבל מכתבם ע"ד ההתוועדות עם שלוחינו שי' ובקשתם לשלוח למחנם מדריך להקמת ישיבה קטנה וביסוס החינוך בקהלתם על טהרת הקדש.

ואתם הסליחה על העיכוב במענה שלי, כיון שרציתי לברר האפשריות למלא בקשתם. לצערי עדיין לא נמצא המדריך הדרוש להם, מפני סיבות שונות, והחלטתי שלא לעכב מכתבי יותר, אולי יש להם דרך אחרת למצוא מדריך מתאים.

לאידך גיסא מחובתי להעיר על גודל האחריות המוטלת על חברי הקהלה, ובפרט על עסקני הציבור וכל אשר לבו ער לצרכים החיוניים של אחב"י במחנם, ולכל לראש - החינוך על טהרת הקדש, למצוא בינתים בין בני הקהלה אנשים שיטפלו בפתרון הבעי' החיונית הזאת בפועל, כוונתי לסידור לימודי קודש, בין בשביל הילדים והנוער ובין בשביל המבוגרים, עד שיימצא המדריך המתאים לקחת עליו את אחריות החינוך.

ועל פי מרז"ל אין הקב"ה בא בטרוניא עם בריותיו, וכיון שדורש חינוך הכשר על טהרת הקדש, הרי בודאי שיש אפשריות למלא את הדרוש בהשתדלות והתאמצות המתאימה.

תקותי אשר בימי סגולה אלה, עת שאנו אומרים פעמים בכל יום מזמור כ"ז דתהלים, בקשו פני את פניך ה' אבקש, הנה המבקש קרבת ה' בפנימיות מובטח לו שמצליח, ויהי רצון שיבשרו בשורות טובות בזה.

בברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה לכל או"א ובני ביתו ולכל בני קהלתם בתוככי כלל ישראל - שליט"א, בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.
