I bless you and greet you,

In your letter, you mention America, and I am very surprised by this, for I do not understand the attitude of the Chassidim* who reside here. It seems that they conceal what happens to them in this country, which has the effect of misleading others and leading them to conclusions that are in no way desirable (note 1: According to which life in America would be easy and free of all effort). Briefly, of all the Chassidim* who have come to this country, with the exception of a few, all make great efforts — not only materially, which is self-evident, but also spiritually. This means that they are in no way in a situation comparable to the one they knew before their arrival. Certainly, there are many explanations for this state of affairs, for we are in America, and they themselves had to struggle bitterly against all these explanations in the country where they were previously (note 2: In Soviet Russia), before arriving in America.

If they listened to me, ninety-nine percent of them would have packed their bags tomorrow and left America for France or England, for example. In this way, the situation could have improved in those countries, not only in the spiritual domain but also materially. Once again, this is not valid only for a few people, who might be considered good-for-nothings or lacking in energy. Concretely, practically all of them, with a few exceptions, may not write clearly what was said above, but this in no way reflects their actual situation. Of course, this must be a warning for those who are looking for a country in which to settle.

Hashem grants each man and each woman His Divine Providence. He will surely lead you to a country where you can settle, in a favorable place, with a positive mission, material and spiritual. With my blessing to give good tidings, to be inscribed and sealed for a good year,

. . .מה שמזכירה במכתבה אודות אמריקה -מפליא אותי מאד,

ואינני מבין את ההנהגה של אנ״ש הנמצאים כאן ,שכפי הנראה,

מסתירים את הנעשה עמם כאן ,עד כדי כך שזה יכול להביא אחרים

לטעות ולהביא לתוצאות לא רצויות כלל.

בקיצור :מאנ״ש שבאו לכאן ,חוץ מבודדים ,בולם מתייגעים ,לא רק

בגשמיות ,שעל כך כבר אין מה לדבר ,אלא גם ברוחניות ,היינו שלמרבה

הצער אינם במצב כפי שהיו לפני שבאו לכאן .אף שישנם תירוצים רבים,

שזו אמריקא ,שכנגד כל התירוצים הם עצמם לחמו במסירת נפש,

בהיותם במדינה הקודמת ,ולפני בואם לאמריקא.

ולו היו שומעים רק בקולי ,היו 99%אורזים מחר את החבילות

ויוצאים מאמריקה ,לצרפת או אנגלי׳ וכדומה ,שתקותי ששם זה ישתפר,

לא רק ברוחניות ,אלא גם בגשמיות .וכאמור לעיל ,כן הוא לא רק אצל

יחידים )לומר שהוא בטלן ,או לא מספיק בעל מרץ( ,אלא כמעט אצל

צולם ,מלבד יחידים ממש .יתכן שלא נאה להם לכתוב את המציאות

הנ״ל ,אבל למרבה הצער אין זה משנה את המצב כפי שהוא .ומובן

מאליו ,שזו צריכה להיות אזהרה חזקה ,לאלו שמחפשים מדינה היכן

להסתדר.

והשם יתברך המשגיח על כל אחד ואחת בהשגחה פרטית ,בטח

ינהיג גם אותה באופן שתסתדר דוקא במקום טוב ,ודוקא בשליחות

טובה הן בגשמיות והן ברוחניות.
